Intro: NXX Lounge

After the meeting is over, you take out your phone and open up the shopping app again, browsing through the dizzying display of products.

Artem: You seem to be staring at your phone a lot today. Did something happen?

You: I'm just trying to figure out what to get for the teachers.

Stellis recently started a trend of giving thanks to teachers with gifts. Even Stellis University is hosting an event to honor them.

Professor Garner is currently abroad for an exchange, but you still intend to visit the other lecturers at Stellis University.

However, you have yet to decide on what gifts to give.

You: I've heard so many gift recommendations over the past few days. The gifts are really creative, and they all look great.

Luke: I went to buy components a few days ago and saw so many fanciful products at the store. There really are lots of options nowadays.

You: Yeah... I don't remember having that many choices back in high school.

Luke: Back then, it was popular to give potted plants. Oh, right! Didn't we give our teacher a potted plant with its own humidifier back then?

You: Yeah! Many shops were promoting that gift at the time.

Luke: We all ended up giving the same gift. The teacher's table was so full of humidifiers that he couldn't be seen through the mist...

You: Yeah... I think that's what happened...

Thinking about that funny incident back then, you and Luke can't help but giggle.

Artem: It seems like it's best not to follow current trends when giving gifts.

Vyn: Indeed. After all, the lecturers at Stellis University will receive many gifts on a day like this.

Marius: Judging by your tone, it seems like this Stellis University professor here has much experience with receiving gifts?

Marius' teasing promps everyone to glance toward Vyn instinctively.

Vyn: During this time of the year, I do receive a lot of gifts that are worth cherishing.

Marius: It seems like Professor Richter already has a wide network of former students, huh...

Vyn: Strictly speaking, should you not show some gratitude to a mentor like me on this occasion, Marius?

Marius: I can arrange a gift now if you really want one.

Marius: I'll put up a banner in the university, stating "Professor Richter is a teacher of high moral character and artistic integrity."

Luke: Pfft...

Even though you're accustomed to Marius' fantastical ideas, you can't help but laugh when you imagine the scene.

Luke: You know what, I can already imagine the looks on the students' faces when they see it!

Artem: I believe Vyn's expression would be more interesting than that of the students.

Vyn: No need for that.

Seeing that everyone is still busy imagining the scene, Vyn shakes his head.

Vyn: Back to the original point. What do you think is the most appropriate gift to bring when visiting your teacher?

Artem: A gift should express your gratitude toward your teacher, but also have something special that's different from current trends.

Artem: A practical gift may be more meaningful. Perhaps I'll think about what a teacher can use in their daily lives.

You: Something that can be used daily? I suppose teachers need to stand for a long time each day, unlike most office workers.

Vyn: Indeed. During conversation, I have heard professors from other faculties mention having backaches from standing too much.

Luke: In that case, wouldn't a back massager be a pretty good gift idea?

You: Yeah, sounds great!

Marius: Great. I learned a lot about those devices from a recent collaboration. Why don't I go with you to choose the gift, Miss?

Luke: I also have previous experience choosing massage devices for the squad's doctor and know a lot about the models on the market.

You: In that case, let's all go together!

Artem: Yeah, that makes it easier to discuss when choosing the model.

Vyn: Shall we set off?

After solving five puzzles

After listening to everyone's suggestions, you bought a back massager as a gift a few days ago.

Upon returning to Stellis University to visit your lecturer, this simple yet thoughtful gift perfectly conveys your intentions.

You: Thank you for your ideas. My teacher loves this gift!

You: By the way, these are the commemorative bookmarks prepared by the student association, for the alumni visiting their teachers.

You arrange the bookmarks you bought back from Stellis University on the table.

The five bookmarks are carefully packed in transparent plastic, and the packaging is decorated with bows of different colors.

You: The student in charge heard that you guys were involved in the gift selection and asked me to bring some back for you.

Vyn: We only gave some suggestions. What is most important is the gratitude you wished to express to your teachers.

Marius: Gotta say, the bookmark is really well-designed. The drawings and colors match perfectly.

Marius takes the lead before the rest pick up the sealed bookmarks from the table and gingerly remove them from the bags.

Luke: Hmm? The design of my bookmark looks different from yours. This design is... rays of sunshine from the horizon?

Artem takes a look at Luke's bookmark and nods.

Artem: Some poems liken a teacher's grace to spring sunshine. These designs likely adopt the common imagery used to symbolize teachers.

Artem: Mine has a peach blossom and a plum tree, referencing a metaphor for "having students all over the world."

Vyn: My bookmark shows someone watering tender shoots. It is said that in Stellis' custom, teachers are compared to gardeners.

You: Mine references a candle that burns at both ends, which is used to praise teachers for their devotion.

You wave the bookmark in your hand, which has a burning candle drawn on it.

You: What about yours, Marius?

Marius: It depicts rain in a lush forest. I guess it represents the long-term influence of a solid education.

You: Sure enough, each bookmark uses a common blessing relating to teachers!

Vyn: I can tell that the students who made these bookmarks put a lot of effort into it.

You look down at the bookmark in your hand. Somehow, this gift feels more meaningful than before.

Artem: That is also a reason for this Teacher Appreciation event - to give everyone the chance to express their gratitude and blessings.

Luke: After all, under normal circumstances... it's a bit embarrassing to go up to your teachers and say "thank you" to them.

Luke: But if everyone has this opportunity to thank their teachers, I'm sure that society will become more respectful of teachers.

Artem: Yes. This is also another reason for the event - to acknowledge the teachers' contribution.

Vyn: Indeed. Cultivating an environment that respects teachers will naturally bring more attention to matters relating to education.

Marius: When society values education, cultural literacy improves as people see the need to respect teachers. It's a virtuous cycle.

Marius nods thoughtfully. You guess that he must be thinking of Pax's talent management model.

Before you can ask about it, he switches to a casual and relaxed expression once more.

Marius: By the way, there will be an outdoor performance tonight for the Teacher Appreciation event. Want to go and take a look?

Luke: I saw the poster on my way here too. They have so many interesting performances lined up!

You: Perfect. We should go show our support, and contribute to this "virtuous cycle"!

Vyn: That is a great idea.

Artem: I agree. Let's pack up now and get going.
