General[edit | edit source]

Joshua Ott is a former gang member who took part in the "Great Gold Heist" of 2020. His gang fled the scene by boat and stopped at the deserted island of Nosta to resupply, at which point infighting and distrust led to Joshua being the only surviving member of the gang. Joshua turned himself in and told Nation A authorities where to find approximately 1/4 of the stolen gold in exchange for a lighter sentence; additionally, the chain of evidence was incomplete, further lessening his sentence.[4][5]

Joshua Ott's mother died early while his father was imprisoned for robbery. He dropped out of high school and then joined a gang called the Golden Lions.[6]

Joshua is 173cm, 62kg, and shoe size 41.[7]

Story[edit | edit source]

Joshua kept a diary of his crimes, documenting and keeping murder weapons from at least 17 murders he committed. Some are kept in a physical collection, others in photos on his phone; they include small glass bottles, old razor blades, and necklaces used for strangulation.[8][9]

Joshua's sentence was commuted two years before it was supposed to end due to his blackmail of prison psychiatrist Zachary Clarke, allowing his return to Nosta in disguise as Zachary's assistant to search for the only remaining item from the heist -- the Golden Mask of Anubis.[10] His actual partner in the expedition was Bryce Thatcher, who blackmailed Joshua by threatening to give the police Joshua's diary. Bryce hired Joshua to retrieve the mask in order to perform Nosta's "Immortal Ritual." In exchange, Bryce promised to help Joshua to leave the island with enough money to start a new life.[11][12]

Joshua believed he knew the location of the mask because Janet Winton, his lover and second-in-command of the Golden Lions, hid it in order to save money to elope with him. While she gave him clues to its location, they were in the form of riddles that Joshua was overconfident in his ability to interpret, and he never found it.[11] Joshua's diary of murder weapons suggests he went on to kill Janet himself after receiving the clues.[13] The diary and one of his murder weapons was given to Darius Morgan to investigate and turn over to Nation A, whose laws are well-known for their severity; it's expected that Joshua will spend the rest of his life in Nation A's prisons.[14]
