Hearing Joshua's and Bryce's conversation, you finally understand what was missing from the Great Gold Heist.

Under Luke's interrogation, Joshua tells us everything about the gold mask.

The riddle on the parchment you found in his backpack turns out to be the only clue to the golden mask.

One hour ago.

Luke: Joshua, tell me everything about the golden mask of Anubis.

You: (Anubis? The ancient Egyptian god of death? That's why Luke knew that the Book of the Dead was related to the loot.)

Luke: You'd better not hide anything from me, and don't try to escape and go look for it yourself.

Luke: No one, not Bryce or anyone else, can bring back the dead with money.

Joshua Ott: I'll talk, I'll talk...

Whereabouts of the mask

Luke: What did Janet Winton tell you about the whereabouts of the mask?

Joshua Ott: She said nothing after hiding the Golden Mask of Anubis. I suppose it's because she thought I might betray her.

Joshua Ott: I asked her many times. Eventually, she told me a riddle about the burial site. The same one you saw.

You: So, the burial site you mentioned comes from the riddle?

Joshua Ott: No. Janet told me where the mask was buried just before she died. I wasn't lying about that.

Joshua Ott: But, she didn't mention an exact location. She just told me that it was underwater, somewhere covered with fluorescent plankton.

Joshua Ott: But, I know this island well enough. There are only two places with fluorescent plankton.

Luke: Since you knew the location of the mask, what was stopping you from checking?

Joshua Ott: People were fighting tooth and nail for the mask. It was a gruesome sight. If I left to get the mask, I'd have ended up like Janet.

Complete mystery

Luke: The riddle we found, is that all there is?

Joshua Ott: No. There are 4 parts.

You: Where are the other three parts of the riddle?

Joshua Ott: I don't have all of the parts. I only have three parts. The other part is in Bryce Thatcher's hands.

Joshua Ott: When I was taken away by the police, I accidentally dropped a piece on the boat. That's the one Bryce has.

Joshua Ott: It was seized by a sheriff from Nation A. He thought that he could pinpoint the location of the golden mask with it.

Joshua Ott: That, along with the diary that Bryce was talking about.

Luke: What about the other two pieces of the riddle you have?

Joshua Ott: I gave one to Zachary Clarke to reduce my penalty, and I gave the other to Jack Barlow.

Joshua Ott: I figured out he was the son of that fisherman. I planned to kill him on the island.

Joshua Ott: After all, that's not an easy thing to pull off in Stellis...

Joshua Ott: So I also gave him one piece and told him that there was gold on the island.

Luke: You and Bryce were accomplices, so you must have got your hands on his part of the riddle. Tell us.

Joshua Ott: I don't remember. In fact, I never studied the riddle at all, not for a minute. I was just tricking Zachary and Jack.

Joshua Ott: Janet was the only clever one in our group. If the others had any brains at all, then why in the world would they be thieves?

Luke: Does the riddle really reveal the mask's location? You just said that Janet made it up to trick people.

Joshua Ott: It does indicate. I was messing around earlier...

You: ...

Reason for the sudden commutation

You: You'll be released from prison in only 2 years. Why the sudden need to apply to have your sentence reduced?

Joshua Ott: Who wouldn't want to get out earlier? Not to mention, I could sell the mask and live the life of a rich man.

Joshua Ott: It's just I couldn't find anyone willing to help me reduce my sentence back then.

Joshua Ott: Not long ago, I saw the news that Pax bought the island. I was worried the mask might be found.

Joshua Ott: So I was in a hurry to get out. Otherwise, I wouldn't have used the riddle as leverage with Zachary.

You: You mean, if Pax hadn't bought the island, you wouldn't have told Zachary the secret?

Joshua Ott: Right.

You: ...

Deal with Bryce

Joshua Ott: Bryce believed in the existence of a magic that grants immortality on Nosta...

Joshua Ott: The magic requires an Incantation to Nosta's God of Death and the artifact: the Golden Mask of Anubis.

Luke: Anubis is the Egyptian God of Death. I don't know if this means that Bryce is cultured or barbaric.

Joshua Ott: When Bryce found out that I was the only survivor of the heist, he came to me.

Joshua Ott: I was trying to find a way to sell the mask. After all, art means nothing to me. I wanted money.

Joshua Ott: So, I made a deal with him. I'd get him the mask, and he'd help me leave Nosta to start a new life.

Luke: It seems that Zachary had become useless to you long time ago.

Joshua Ott: He was greedier than me. He said he arranged a fishing boat to take me off the island.

Joshua Ott: But who knows what will happen on board. Bryce was a safer bet since he needed his life, not money.

After you and Luke's interrogation, you take Joshua out of the cave. Luke calls security to escort him.

On the way to the base camp, Luke is very quiet. You know there's something on his mind.

You: Luke, why are you so quiet?

Luke: Oh, uh... Just a bit tired.

Luke: What's up?

You: Nonsense, don’t try to lie to me. Are you upset?

Luke: I'm not. I was thinking when we see the others, we better figure out the riddle together.

Luke: If I don't find the golden mask of Anubis, I'll won't be able to complete my mission.

Luke: The golden mask of Anubis was lent to our government by the Egyptians as a diplomatic gesture...

Luke: It's their national treasure, rumored to be linked with the afterlife. Losing it almost caused a crisis.

Luke: To avoid attention, the government kept quiet about this incident for 10 years and even made a replica.

Luke: Secretly, both nations have put a lot of effort into finding it.

Luke: Unfortunately, this island belongs to Nation A. it's not easy to perform an investigation here.

Luke: If it weren't for Pax's event creating this opportunity, I wouldn't have been sent here on this mission.

You: Luke, when you lie, you either say nothing all or way too much.

You: Who asked you about the mask...

Luke: I...

You: You really don't have to worry. In my heart, you'll always be the same person.

Luke: ...

You: Do you remember what you said to me back at the campsite, when I got the wrong person and made a mess?

Luke: Don't say that. It's good that you're being vigilant.

Luke: I'd rather you be overly defensive than let down your guard and have something happen.

You: I actually feel the same way.

You: I'd rather you act ruthlessly when facing criminals than get yourself hurt because of your kindness.

You: The nature of your profession dictates that you face dangers before ordinary people like us do.

You: On the battlefield, there're a lot of things that can't be solved by words alone.

You: As long as you're safe and sound by my side, then you'll always be the best Luke in my heart.

You: ...!

Before you can react, Luke has already wrapped you up in his arms.

The warmth of his body is like the rising sun, gently surrounding you with comfort.

Luke: Thank you. I will.

Luke: I will be forever by your side, safe and sound.
