General[edit | edit source]

Joey Grant is Gordon Grant's illegitimate daughter with Joanne Scott and is Harry Grant's younger half-sister.

Joey, Joanne, and Joey's nanny, Fannie Morris, were brought to the Grant Estate after Mrs. Grant's death. Fannie has been Joey's nanny ever since Joey was born and treats Joey like a daughter. Harry Grant treats Joey kindly, believing that Joey should not be involved in the family disputes, and visits her on the weekends when he is in school.[2][3]

Before Joey was born, Joanne took drugs while still pregnant, resulting in Joey's poor health. Joey has cognitive delays and a compromised immune system. So, she has been taking medication and is predicted to continue taking medicine.[2] One of her caregivers describes her as a child who doesn't talk much or enjoy playing with other kids, but also notes she isn't hard to communicate with and praises her angelic behavior -- especially if Joey knows she can have strawberry pudding.[4]

Although Joey is an illegitimate child, she has the same inheritance rights as Harry.[5]

Story[edit | edit source]

Artem's and the main character's investigations reveal that Joey was experimented upon by Gordon, which Joanne discovered. Joey's taste deterioration, below-average intelligence, and compromised immune system came from Gordon continuing Moonriver Pharmaceutical Laboratories' drug experimentations to develop anti-aging products.[6][7] Joey's medical treatments are highly expensive. Joann used to receive money from Gordon but he stopped giving her money half a year ago. So, Joanne pawned her jewelry to pay for Joey's medical bills. After the case for Gordon's death was closed, Harry decided to take care of Joey's upcoming treatments.[8][9]
