Summary

During the investigation of the crime scene--the bedroom shared by Gordon and Joanne--Artem and the main character find that Joey's medical bills have been expensive and would be difficult for Joanne to handle alone if, as they speculate, Gordon refused to contribute. They find that Joanne has been pawning her jewelery, and that that Joey's prescription was doubled in the last month for unknown reasons. They also find a vial of unknown medication labelled X03A under the bed.

When Joanne refuses to unlock her jewelry box, Darius has someone pry it open; they find a bottle of unknown white powder that is sent to a lab for testing. Artem and the MC speculate that Joanne knows more about pharmacology than she has claimed and that she may have purified Joey's extra medication into her own murder weapon.
