General[edit | edit source]

Mavis Sutcliffe is the mother of Letha Graye. She went missing several months before her daughter's recent death. Few can speak to the woman's character, personality, or the circumstance of her disappearance other than that it occurred shortly after she received a large parcel of money. Her name cannot be located in police records, so it's believed it may be false. Before she disappeared, she had a fragile relationship with Letha's father, Hugo Graye; the two were said to never sleep in the same room and barely acknowledged each other's presence.[1] She was also once a short-term patient of Vyn Richter.[2]

Story[edit | edit source]

Discussing Mavis' situation with the few social connections that can be found reveals that she is entangled with the staff of Gladiolus Valley Research Center, which makes her a special interest to the NXX Investigation Team.

She is infatuated with Jerome Adams, who claims the feeling is not mutual, saying that he only visited her in the ICU from time to time during his hospital volunteer work and referred her to Vyn's care due to her abnormal behavior.[3]

Mavis is also acquainted with Matthew Richter, having taken advantage of his deals to exchange sad stories for money. It's believed the latter may have been the cause of her disappearance, as the only rule of those transactions is not to lie, and she disappeared shortly after receiving money from him. Her next known appearance was when she kidnapped Angela Diggs for Matthew.[4] She was last seen in the company of Matthew and Wilson Sorge, who were unhappy that Mavis had brought them Angela instead of Letha.[5]
