Arriving at the
Third Juvenile Correctional Facility, the
main character examines
Gerard Boone's case file with
Luke, finding it distressingly sparse. Luke responds that it's fairly normal, as Gerard's life has been unlucky but otherwise unremarkable, which calls the
Big Data Lab's classification of the case as anomalous and important into question. The two agree the Data Lab must have seen some connection to the recent
Heirson Health Products case.
Inside the facility, Luke speaks with Terry, the facility director, as if the two are old friends. Terry notes that Gerard only stayed at the facility for a week but was a troublemaker, starting two fights in that time. Terry goes to find the records from those incidents as Luke and the MC have lunch at the facility cafeteria.
During lunch, another juvenile named Julian is bullied by larger teens who throw his food on the ground. Luke intervenes, but when Julian attempts to avoid tattling on the bullies by claiming he dropped his own food, Luke forces him to clean up the mess; Julian's frustration makes him admit what happened, and Luke softens, telling Julian not to keep quiet if he knows he's being pushed around.
