Gerard as seen during his escape

Gerard is a juvenile delinquent who was being held at the Third Juvenile Correctional Facility before disappearing at age 14 a year prior to the events of Episode 9: Grey Frontier. Gerard is an orphan, his father having passed away long ago due to a construction site accident and his mother having passed after a very short battle with NXX-related liver cancer shortly before his disappearance.[1][2]

Gerard's case file from the correctional facility is sparse, only noting that he has a history of causing serious injury to others; he was sent there due to an altercation with Stellis Public Hospital nurse Skye Harper, although this was the only incident in Gerard's history in which he acted aggressively rather than in defense of others. Prior to that incident, he defended Nurse Harper from a patient who tried to attack her,[3] and during his stay at the juvenile facility, he started two fights to defend his roommate, Julian, from bullies.[4]

Before her hospitalization, Gerard's mother was oppressive and controlling, pretending to be ill so that her son would take care of her and writing many manipulative suicide notes.[5] By the time she passed away, Gerard viewed his mother's death as a kind of freedom for himself.[6]

Prior to his mother's passing, Gerard was noted to be a frequent person of interest in theft and fraud cases, though this was speculated to be due to his mother's medical fees. Before her cancer diagnosis increased the fees dramatically, Gerard collected cans and garbage as a source of slow but steady money.[2][7]

Gerard's current whereabouts are unknown, although Julian, his roommate, remembers that Gerard met an unknown but seemingly kind figure during his escape, which was covered up as a transfer to another correctional facility.[4]
