Brigid Gries is the daughter of Brad Gries and Felicia Luo. She was born a sickly child and was noted to have essentially grown up in Stellis Public Hospital; her illness took a drastic turn for the worse a month prior to the events of Episode 10: Sonorous Silence.[1][2] Brigid has aphasia; prior to her parents' divorce, she had learned to say a few sentences, but since the divorce, she has been entirely nonverbal. Additionally, Brigid writes in a backward way that isn't completely evident as backward writing, leaving most who look at her writing believing they are seeing nonsense symbols.[3]
Brigid's illness took its turn for the worst at a time when her father was attempting to blow the whistle on Gladiolus Valley Research Center's ties to black market drugs, leading to suspicion of retribution. After her father's death, Brigid made a "miraculous" recovery that was just as sudden as her decline.
