Medilla was a master hacker and formerly the top member of Notro, a cybercrime organization. His notoriety as a talented hacker began in 2024, when a cyberattack on Stellis Junior High School stole numerous student records in search of suitable targets for extortion and abduction. Two days after the breach was discovered, an anonymous tip from Medilla to Stellis police enabled the police to capture the data thief. A particular girl who was saved from abduction in this plot would go on to become Medilla's girlfriend, though he went on to break up with her against her will for her own safety due to the danger his activities could put her in.

Medilla graduated from high school in 2026, but he removed all record of himself from both digital and physical records at his school, rendering it difficult to discover his true identity from his time there. In 2027, he hacked and temporarily shut down Notro before announcing his departure from the organization.

After his departure from Notro, in 2028, Medilla formed an alliance with the Pax Group, working out of an abandoned server room that once served as the site of Pax Technology's operations. There, under the terms of his agreement, he used the Pax Group's resources to continue to study and fight Notro; diagrams of Notro's server structure and analyses of its primary information gathering tool, Centipede, could be found at this site, and he helped ward the Big Data Lab from Centipede's attacks. In return for his protection, Pax agreed to protect Medilla and provide the server room as his lab space.

Medilla eventually succeeded in crashing Notro and disabling, but not deleting, Centipede. Notro's leadership announced that the loss of data would take at least a half year to recover from and promised its members retribution.

He lived alone in apartment 202 of a building in North Stellis, which is an area of Stellis with a higher concentration of crime. He was thought to suffer from a severe form of Social Anxiety Disorder and rarely left his home. Near the end of his time in Stellis, after disabling Centipede and incurring Notro's wrath, Medilla became so reclusive that he ordered all of his daily necessities from the internet even when the same goods were sold at a nearby convenience store.

Medilla escaped Stellis on an international freight shipment in late 2030 and is presumed dead as retribution for his actions against Notro due to communications found at The Abyss indicating a successful assassination against target "M" had taken place.

Lilith[edit | edit source]

Vesper Box

Lilith is an AI assistant described as having a "witchy avatar." She was created by Medilla during his collaboration with Pax Technology and modeled after DAVIS, and she resides in a device named the "Vesper Box," which also served as a training device to increase her intelligence and abilities as she completed the box's various tasks.

After Medilla's disappearance, Lilith conducted repeated exploratory hacks on the Stellis Big Data Lab and, once confident she could breach and disable the platform, contacted Luke Pearce with demands for the detective to locate Medilla. As the NXX Investigation Team completed tasks from the Vesper Box and came to trust him, Lilith revealed herself to the team; after she received the news that Medilla had been assassinated, she requested the team link her to Notro's core station so she could disable the firewall around Centipede--an act that would delete her in the process, as she herself was the key to the firewall--and have Luke complete deletion of the tool, an act which would permanently disable Notro according to DAVIS' predictions.
