Artem "Love for the Ages"/Rewards

Story Summary

This story takes place in Year 3. Artem is engaged to the MC.

Artem and the MC are planning to throw a pool party for Artem's birthday. At the suggestion of the MC, they will invite their friends over. This will be the first time Artem will be celebrating his birthday with friends. They try out the party supplies they have just bought. Afterwards while cleaning up, Artem reveals that he usually celebrates his birthday with his parents and his mother cooks longevity noodles for him. Suddenly, Artem feels a confetti stuck inside his shirt. Tension fills the air as the MC tries to search his body up for the offending confetti.

Artem recounts the story of when he celebrated his 12th birthday. His parents were away, so they asked Professor Neil Hume to look after him. The scene changes to a 12-year-old Artem interacting with Professor Hume who is cooking longevity noodles for Artem. However, the dish is on the spicier side which causes a coughing fit on Artem. Professor Hume panics and apologizes, then calls the emergency hotline. Artem assures Professor Hume that he can eat the noodles and that it's not too spicy, all the while barely suppressing the tears. Professor Hume then rides the white lie, promises to prepare a second bowl that will be even more delicious, and greets Artem a happy birthday.

The MC imagines how cute Artem was. However, Artem tells her that it's better that she met him as he is now because he wasn't mature yet back then. In the bed, they discuss more about the party. The MC thinks that it's great that their case is going smoothly so Artem's birthday party will definitely push through. But as she said that, she feels like there's some foreshadowing in that statement. The next day, they continue preparing the venue. The MC is able to persuade Artem to sing for her as "practice" for the party.

Back inside, Artem and the MC receive a notification that the opposing lawyer uploaded a new 100-page evidence. Deliberately uploading this document very late is actually considered a low-blow, but viable strategy for victory. The MC starts feeling anxious about Artem's birthday party the next day since they would need to review the evidence. She insists on helping Artem to go through the evidence. The next morning in the office, the MC speaks to Celestine Taylor and the latter offers to organize the party in their stead.

Artem and the MC head to the cinema in order to wait for and verify evidence. Finally, they receive the information they need. It's already late. Celestine Taylor sends them videos of the party. Their friends are enjoying the party and they send their birthday messages to Artem. The MC feels sad that they missed out on the party that they have prepared for so long and wonders if Artem feels the same way. Artem tells her he's not sad. Just like when Professor Hume celebrated his birthday with him, he appreciates the warm wishes and blessings he received for his birthday.

Artem and the MC head back to the office to finalize documents. It's already very late, and after a while, Artem persuades the MC to rest a bit while he go over the remaining documents. The MC hatches a plan for a last minute celebration. She searches the office for some decorations used before for celebrations and then decorates Artem's office. Then she quickly goes to a nearby shop to buy a cake and then looks for some scented candles in the office as the cake shop already ran out of it. Soon, Artem heads over to his office and is greeted with the MC's surprise celebration. Lighting the candle, she tells Artem to make a wish. Artem tells her he no longer needs to make a wish. All he wants is her. Then they eagerly share a long kiss.

Artem: You're resting? I just came back from fieldwork... Yeah, I just got home.

Artem: Everything is fine at work. Mmm... I'm calling you because I want to discuss something.

Artem: Do you remember the videos Celestine and the others sent on my birthday? I want to record a thank-you video for my friends too.

Artem: I thought up a draft on my way back, but it feels a bit odd... So, I'd like to hear your opinion about it.

Artem: Ahem... Thank you very much for helping organize and taking part in my birthday party. I would like to firstly apologize for my absence on that day.

Artem: It is thanks to your understanding that the party could go ahead as planned...

Artem: Um... No, it still sounds too unnatural. It would sound better if I was saying it to you.

Artem: That's right. Would you mind... making a comparison to see if there would be a different effect?

Artem: Okay, here I go.

Artem: [Player], thank you for appearing in my life, and filling my ordinary and simple existence with surprises and happiness.

Artem: Thanks to you, both the grandiose birthday party and the simple office celebration count as a perfect birthday.

Artem: For me, sharing every moment of my life with you is my biggest...

Artem: ...I didn't forget my lines. However, as I think of these words, I want to say them to your face instead of through a screen.

Artem: Therefore, can I please go and see you, and reveal the rest of these words?

Artem: Then I'll head out immediately. See you later.
