You: This photo looks like it was taken with an old-fashioned camera... Now you only see this kind of stuff on TV, right?

Marius: Oh yeah? I think I saw pictures like this when I was little.

Marius: Let me think... when I was about six or seven years old?

You: That long ago?

Marius: Yeah, when I just saw this photo, I started thinking and realized it's been a long, long time since I left.

This conversation may have reminded him of some memories. You notice a flicker of emotion stirs in his eyes.

You: ...

You: I asked the boss before, and he said there's a camera in the shop that can take photos like this.

You: It's not for sale, but we can have our photo taken. It's a special service the store offers.

Marius: Really? Great.

You: Then let's take a picture together. I'm looking forward to seeing our picture on an "old-fashioned Polaroid."

Marius: Me too.

West Hemingway Heights Street

You: This lampshade is made from woven fabric...

Marius: Yeah, it is. This is more of an antique than some other second-hand stuff.

You: An antique...

Marius: Yeah, woven lampshades were discontinued decades ago. Now, these kinds of lamps can be sold for thousands of dollars.

You: Is it really that expensive?

Marius: It's mainly because its commemorative significance is greater than its actual value.

Marius: After all, people always feel a sense of nostalgia and sadness towards things that are lost to time.

West Hemingway Heights Street

You: (Is this a self-assembled bookcase? I might need one for my bedroom too.)

You: (This book... I think I have a copy at home.)

You: (Is that a directory on the table?)

You: Hey, I've seen this phonograph design before!

You: Last week I went to see a fantasy movie with Kiki, and the magic phonograph in it looked just like this one.

Marius: ...

Marius: Miss, when did you go to the movies last week?

You: The day I got off work early. Kiki bought tickets online, and we went together.

You: Uh, hold on... I remember I sent you a message about it...

Marius: Aw man, I was so busy preparing that new project last week. I must have missed it.

Marius: ...

You: If you are interested, I can watch it with you again.

You: That movie was pretty good. I was thinking of watching it again.

Marius: Okay, that's a promise then.

Marius: Then without further ado, let's watch it tonight.

You: Okay, sure.

West Hemingway Heights Street

You: The atmosphere here is really nice.

Marius: Yeah, the room is designed beautifully. It doesn't feel like we're in a restaurant—it feels more like being a guest at someone's home.

Dim, deliberately worn-out lights shine lazily on you both through the glass domes.

The aperture refracts a circle of light and shadow through the glass table, reflecting on the floral-print carpet.

You: How did you know there is a new restaurant here?

Marius: Oh, I heard about it from the staff at Pax.

Marius: I realized that I'm more perceptive now.

Marius: I mean, I probably wouldn't have cared about this new restaurant before...

Marius: But this time, when they were chatting, I was already deciding when I should go with you.

Marius: I think it's because... I have so many things I want to do with you.

West Hemingway Heights Street

You: It looks like there's a new restaurant at the end of that street up there.

Marius: Yeah, I heard they just finished construction last week.

You: Should we go take a look later?

Marius: Sure.

You: My muscles and bones feel less stiff after a massage.

You: And this salon also offers spa services. The warm water treatment feels really nice.

Marius: Yeah, the temperature is just right.

You: It's a pity that there's limited space here... If it was a hot spring, it would be even more relaxing.

Marius: Well, that's not difficult. I'll book some tickets now, so we can take a trip to the hot spring.

You: Okay! I'm looking forward to it.

West Hemingway Heights Street

You: Wow... I didn't expect to see books like this here.

Marius: Like what?

You: Stuff like "Legal Dictionary" and "Civil Code"... There are a lot of other hard science books too.

Server: Feel free to relax and browse through the books on this shelf. They're here for customers to enjoy while waiting to be served.

You: (Are you sure these books help to relax...?)

You and Marius have just returned from the supermarket, your arms full of big and small bags of snacks.

Marius mentioned before that he really wanted to have a snack party when he was little, so you dragged him out to shop today.

You: We'll have to organize everything, or this place could turn into a sea of snacks...

You take a look inside your respective bags and start checking your shopping lists.

Marius: Hmm...? This... did you grab this?

You: What is it?

You look down in the bag, where a corner of a pink box is exposed. You take it out to have a look...

You: Pocky? I didn't grab it.

Marius: I didn't either... Did the cashier accidentally put it in?

You: ...That's a huge box. I wasn't paying attention when we paid.

You: If no one wants to eat it, how about I take it back?

Marius: Hey, Miss, have you heard of that online challenge to test a couple's chemistry?

He changes the subject so quickly that you freeze for a moment.

You: I don't know... What is it?

Marius: I saw a post where a couple bit into a Pocky stick to test their chemistry. If you haven't seen it, then why don't I show you?

Marius: I mean, we already have them, so we might as well use them to test our chemistry. I'm pretty curious!

You: Sure, but why were you looking at those kinds of posts? I thought you weren't interested in them.

Marius: When I was little, I wanted to share snacks with my friends, but my brother didn't like sweets. I wasn't close with anyone in my class either.

Marius: I used to bring snacks to school and back home again. Over time, I started to feel like snacks weren't that tasty.

You: Well, snacks are more delicious when shared... So, how do we... do this test?

Marius: I knew that you cared about me more than anyone, Miss. All right, look at my phone. This is how you do it...

You: (Why do I suddenly feel like I'm being tricked...)

As he speaks, Marius unlocks his phone to show you the post he mentioned.

According to the instructions in the post, you each bite one end of the Pocky stick and look at each other.

Even though you look at each other often and are pretty used to it, this time, you're a little nervous for some reason.

With your teeth biting into the Pocky, your speech is a bit muffled.

You: So now we just get closer to each other?

Marius looks at you and nods slightly.

Your gaze indicates to Marius that you understand, and you look at each other intently.

You gradually move closer to one another, your inherent chemistry allowing you to accurately guess when he would move forward...

Then, you spot a gap. You quickly move forward and bite off a large chunk of the Pocky.

Marius: You...

As you chew on your prize, you look at Marius' astonished face and ask a question.

You: Huh? Isn't the winner the one who eats the most?

Marius: You really... march to the beat of your own drum.

You: Eh?

Marius: Miss, you just won. So now... it's my turn?

He leans forward, and before you can react, he grabs your hand. His shadow falls over you.

Marius holds the other end of the Pocky stick in his mouth, but this time, you two are closer than ever.

You open your eyes wide and gaze at Marius' face as your lips touch.

With a "snap," the biscuit breaks in two, and the sound of Marius chewing mixes with your heartbeat.

*crunch... crunch... thump... thump...*

Marius: Hmm... snacks shared with friends may be good, but nothing's better than snacks... with my love.
