Jae Gim was a Stellis "detective" who functioned more as an independent information broker than an investigator. One of his specialties was locating debtors who had fallen into loan traps and attempted to escape harassment by moving or going into hiding; it's in this regard that he ran afoul of Sphynx, who forced him out of the detective business. Jae was noted to be especially good at keeping clean and exploiting legal loopholes to stay out of trouble, always managing to secure release shortly after any arrest.[1] He was "taught his place by one of his employers, Daniel Song, who had him killed after Jae attempted to extort more money than agreed upon for his services; Daniel would go on to claim that he had done the world a favor through this action. The murder was disguised as a natural-looking "heart paralysis."[2]
Jae was arrogant about his craft, enjoying the act of standing in a very visible location and smiling at the debtors he tracked down. He once noted that "people are also goods of a kind."[3]
