General[edit | edit source]

Daniel Song is the founder and chairman of Hyunda Finance. Praised by the media as an "outstanding entrepreneur" and revered as a socialite and celebrity by the public eye,[2] Daniel in fact leads a self-described "large triad group"[3] responsible for many loan-trap organizations and related criminal activity including murder, blackmail, extortion, forced prostitution, and illegal surveillance.

Daniel views the world as largely acting in self-interest, comprised of two groups of people: villains who admit what they want, and hypocrites who still act for selfishly but lie to themselves to ease their troubled consciences. He's noted to seem very proud of his crimes, especially in actions like his demonstrations of past methods of murder as an intimidation tactic and his dismissal of his lack of memory for details of his crimes with phrases such as "do you remember which shoe you use to kill a cockroach?"[4] He attacks those who would stand against him by taking and torturing hostages, preying on their value of human life by implying that anyone who would take down his organization over saving an innocent is morally bankrupt and a hypocrite.[3]

Daniel is noted to have an immaculate appearance, wearing a suit and carrying a black umbrella when weather calls for it. [4]

Story[edit | edit source]

His activities were finally brought to light when information broker Jae Gim, having gotten too greedy and attempted to extort more money than agreed upon from Daniel, was murdered for his transgressions. Daniel discovered that Jae had more information on him than he was comfortable with and that he'd recently been in contact with Sphynx, nemesis of corrupt detectives in Stellis. Deciding to preemptively silence Sphynx in case the information had been passed on,[5] Daniel adopted the anonymous persona "Oedipus" and began contacting previous "victims" of Sphynx's policing of the detective world, such as Aran Krall, attempting to work with them to lure his opponent out of hiding. He used his extensive triad resources to pay his collaborators an average person's yearly salary to secure their help,[6] which instigated Sphynx and several of his colleagues to join forces to dismantle the operation and resources behind "Oedipus." Daniel's entire gang was arrested after a police operation at his base of operations, the Maple Lounge.[7]
