Vernon Green, or "Grandpa Vern" as he is sometimes called, is the owner of Penny's Comfort Foods in Stellis City's Central Business District. The restaurant is converted from the first floor of his house and was founded in memory of Vernon's wife so that the recipes she loved could be enjoyed by as many people as possible. He maintains a plot of camellias outside the restaurant.[1]
Vernon runs a grant program for underprivileged students to assist them in attending Stellis University and gaining financial independence; some of his grantees include Winnie Cooper[2] and Pedro Brooks. Recently, he is in poor health due to a heart condition and a diagnosis of clinical depression.
