Story Script

Latte: Basic Cause

The dense aroma of coffee beans in the afternoon sun makes you feel sleepy before you even realize it.

Luke: Are you tired? Want to take a break?

Luke stops what he's doing, places his hands on the edge of the bar, then leans toward you.

You: No, no... the weather is just so nice today...

As you watch Luke's skillful movements, a question pops into your head.

You: Hey... Luke, you still haven't told me why you learned how to make coffee.

Luke: You want to listen to the story now?

You: Yeah, there aren't any customers now.

Luke: All right... one year, during a winter like this one...

You lean forward on the table, trying to find a comfortable position as you listen to the story.

Luke: It was really difficult to get close to our target at the time. My colleagues and I tried so many different methods, but they all ended in failure.

Luke: That's not all — he was aware of several of my colleagues' true identities, so he was being even more careful...

You: Wow, wouldn't that make it even harder to get close to him?

Luke: Yep, we were in a really tough spot.

Luke: Later on, we found out he loved drinking coffee. But my face was the only one on the squad that he hadn't already seen.

Luke: So I was forced to be the one.

You: Hah...

Warm coffee, old memories, and scattered laughter blend together during this typical and cozy afternoon break.

Sandwich: "Tasting" Change

Amidst the appetizing sounds of food sizzling, Artem is preparing everyone's staff meals.

You: Mr. Wing, what are we going to eat today?

Artem: I was planning to see what I could make with the leftovers...

Artem: Why do you ask? Is there something you want to eat?

You: No, no, I'll eat whatever you make. I just couldn't help coming over after I caught the delicious scent.

Upon hearing that, Artem smiles slightly, bows his head, then continues cooking.

Artem is a hard worker, and he quickly makes a few homemade dishes. The steams wafts into the air as the delicious food causes your mouth to water.

Artem: Do you want to try some?

You: Huh? Can I?

Artem holds a pair of chopsticks for himself, handing over another pair to you as he makes a "shushing" gesture.

Artem: Of course. I need someone to check if it's seasoned well, right?

If it wasn't for his cunning gaze, you would have been fooled by his entirely serious tone.

You: Then, I'll just try a bite...

The two of you are like cats stealing food. You put your heads together, quietly pick up your bites, put them in your mouths, and savor the flavor.

Artem: How is it?

You: It's great... Mr. Wing, you're getting better and better at cooking!

He only tried a small bite of food, but Artem shows an extremely satisfied smile as he looks at you with sparkling eyes.

Artem: As long as you like it.

Fruit Tart: Taste Preferences

You: You were looking for me, Dr. Richter? Do you need something?

Vyn: Ah, you are here. There is something I would like your help with.

Vyn: It is about these two cakes. Could I trouble you to taste them and tell me which is better?

You: Eh? Why are you suddenly...?

Before you are two mille crêpe cakes that look very similar, but clearly have different fillings.

Vyn: This is a new product I am trying to develop recently, but I cannot decide which one to serve...

Vyn: So I was wondering if you would give them a try.

Vyn: After all, I trust your taste and insight.

You: Well, it's hard for me to refuse cake, but I can't guarantee my suggestions will be helpful.

Vyn: That is fine. You just need to tell me your honest opinion.

You gently scoop a spoonful of the cake on your left and put it in your mouth. The smooth, moist flavor of chocolate lingers on the tip of your tongue.

You: Oh, it's chocolate. It's delicious!

Under Vyn's expectant gaze, you scoop another spoonful out of the cake on the right.

Although it looks quite similar to the cake on the left, it unexpectedly tastes completely different.

You: Is it coffee flavored?

The taste is slightly bitter, as if you took a sip of an Americano, but the perfect amount of cream completely neutralizes any harshness, creating an extremely rich flavor.

You: This one is delicious too. It's especially perfect for customers who prefer their desserts less sweet.

Vyn: So, which one would you choose?

You: Can we serve them both? It's too hard to choose, and it would be a shame if either one wasn't available.

You: Ah... am I being too greedy? Your workload will double if there are two flavors, after all.

Vyn: Well... it is all right... If you like them that much, I will serve both of them.

Vyn: As for the workload, you will help me, right?

You: Sure, I'll definitely help you!

Cone: Sweet "Offensive"

Marius: Phew—

Marius: How many more do I have to eat...? I think my tongue is frozen.

You: Well... you've tried all the different nutty flavors. The fruity flavors are next...

Marius: I really can't keep going...

Marius looks as though he's staring down death, but it's only because he ate too much ice cream...

His face is somewhat stiff, making his expression even funnier.

You: ...You were the one who said you wanted to try all of the ice cream on the market.

You: Weren't you the one who said, "Know the enemy and know yourself"?

Marius: Now isn't the time to repeat that...

Marius: Let me have my pride, Miss...

You: All right, you ate a lot, so did you learn anything?

Marius: Uh, I...

You: So you were just being greedy — and you even asked me to eat them with you!

You pretend to be mad, but have no idea if Marius believes it. He just lowers his head and scoops up another bite of ice cream.

You: Didn't you say you can't eat any more? I...

You want to continue talking, but a cold, sweet flavor sweeps across your lips and tongue.

Marius: I learned that... I think you'll like this flavor the best.
