"Cook soft-boiled omurice with your partner."

This is the task instruction that you and Vyn drew.

You: It's not as hard as I thought! That's a pretty normal instruction.

Vyn: It is a mini-game for couples.

Vyn: The easiest way to take your relationship to the next level is through habit formation.

Vyn: To make yourself accommodate and accustomed to another person's existence through the use of the small things in daily life.

Vyn: It seems like the creator of this game knows some psychological concepts.

You: The game wouldn't have received so much praise otherwise.

The two of you head into the kitchen, talking.

You: Omurice seems easy enough...

Vyn rolls up his sleeves to reveal his slender forearms, which stand out beautifully in the kitchen.

Vyn: Let me look at the recipe.

You: I'll check out what's in the refrigerator...

Opening the refrigerator, you don't know where to even start looking among the dazzling array of ingredients.

Vyn: Fortunately, we have some leftover rice in the refrigerator.

Vyn's eyes linger on the table for a while, seemingly ready to start.

You: Then, let's get started!

He puts down the tablet and retrieves two aprons from a cabinet. He puts one on himself while handing the other one to you.

It's a very simple style, but it somehow gives you a feeling of ordinary happiness.

Vyn: Heat up the rice, and add your favorite ingredients to make fried rice.

You: Sure.

Soon, the fried rice is ready.

The aromatic plate of crystal clear rice with green peas, carrots, and Svart ham before you looks appetizing.

Vyn: With the fried rice done and set aside, we need to make the omelet.

Vyn stands next to you and cracks a few eggs into a bowl.

The kitchen light falls on him, softening his appearance.

You: Since you're beating the eggs, I'll fry the omelet.

You pour a little oil in the heated wok. The sizzling sound is tantalizing.

*splash* After you pour the egg liquid into the wok, white smoke gushes up, causing you to scramble.

You: !!!

Sure enough, the only thing that results from your panicking is a burnt, unrecognizable object.

You: (Is it too late to take back what I said about omurice being easy?)

Vyn: Take your time. We can try again.

Undoubtedly, Vyn's voice is able to calm you down, and you silently recall the recipe.

You: I remember this step going like this...

After settling down, you try again. However, when you have to flip the egg over, you still don't know what to do.

Vyn: When the egg is half-cooked, flip it over and fold it in half to create the omelet.

Vyn gives you instructions while standing behind you, holding your hand.

Vyn: Yes, just like that.

With Vyn's help, the omelet is finally a success. You can still see the steam coming from the half-set golden omelet.

Vyn: The last step is to arrange the rice in a water droplet shape and place the omelet on top.

Vyn: Split the omelet down the middle so it lies flat on the rice.

A light cut breaks open the omelet, spilling golden egg all over the rice below.

You: It's finally done! That wasn't easy...

You: My brain tells me I know how to make it, but my hands have a mind of their own.

Vyn: I guess some things are easier to do with two people.

You: Yeah! Let's eat the fruits of our hard labor.

You and Vyn each take a spoonful of rice, tasting it with anticipation.

You: ...

Vyn: ...

Vyn: Oh... did we forget something?

You: Hmm...

The rice, though aromatic with eggs and assorted ingredients, is still a bit bland.

You: Salt...

The two of you exchange a look, laughing helplessly.

You: Failure often happens when you least expect it.

Vyn: ...

Despite the small accident, the whole bowl of omurice is devoured bit by bit until only an empty plate is left.

Maybe it's because you made it yourself, or maybe it's because you were eating together with Vyn.

Eating an ordinary bowl of omurice without any salt has been transformed into a wonderful memory because of that special someone.
