Have a wonderful holiday together - Watch a movie with Luke

You two head into the bedroom, and Luke takes out some discs from within the TV cabinet.

He separates the different genres into groups and then gestures at them.

Luke: Which genre do you want? I'll find it for you.

Luke: We can have a nice break today, so feel free to pick something long.

You: I've always been the one who makes suggestions about films. Why don't you pick this time?

Luke: Let me think...

Luke: Why don't we watch something light and comical? We should relax in a fun way.

You: That's a great idea!

You and Luke look over the discs in the comedy category, then acting with tacit understanding, you both point at the third disc from the left—"Beautiful Robot."

Luke inserts the disc and pulls you to sit on the bean bag with him to enjoy the film.

This is a sci-fi comedy. The male protagonist, James, is a robot craftsman and has a cold and detached attitude. He only categorizes robots as useful or not useful.

But no one could have imagined that his handmade domestic robot, Tom, would suddenly gain consciousness on the day it was left at the junkyard.

Then, James experienced a huge change in his life. He met again with Tom, who pretended to be a human and wanted to regain the honor of a robot. They became friends and had several wacky adventures.

The movie is not very long, and the fun and humorous acting makes you laugh. The show ends with both of you wanting more.

You: I never would have thought that James would dance with Tom at the end. Tom's digital eyes looked so confused.

Luke: I'm guessing that the robot was feeling stuff like... Hold on, let me give you an improv performance—

Luke: "My master... Is his brain having issues? How do you fix a human brain if it's broken? I don't know how to do it!"

Luke then starts to imitate how Tom the robot acted in the movie, showing a questioning and helpless expression, together with a sense of anxiety of confusion. His imitation is nearly perfect.

You: "If you don't know something, then just go learn it." I bet James would say something like that. A stereotypical man with no filter like him would definitely answer questions bluntly.

Luke: Man with no filter?

You: Yep, the stereotypical ones who don't care about saving face and just blurt out whatever they feel.

Luke: I see... I'm not like that, right...?

You: No, but...

Before you can finish your sentence, Luke's expression suddenly changes. He turns his head to look toward the window as if listening for something.

Luke: Mmm? What's that sound?

You pause for a moment and focus as well. Then, you notice the faint and crisp sound of the doorbell ringing urgently outside.

You: Could it be a client with urgent business?

Luke: Let's go down and have a look together.

You: Okay, let's go.

Who came looking for Luke? - Check who came to visit

You and Luke pause when you open the door. Aaron and another serious-looking man are standing outside the door.

Aaron breathes a sigh of relief and puts down the phone he had just placed to his ear. He then taps the phone screen and puts it back into his pocket.

Aaron Yishmir: I thought you weren't in. I was just about to call you.

Aaron Yishmir: ...Let's not talk here. Can we head inside?

You notice that Aaron looks around the antique shop's surroundings with deliberate nonchalance when he speaks as if he is pretending to be casual and relaxed.

Luke: Sure. Come in.

Luke must have guessed that something was up as well because his expression also turned serious. He nods and immediately invites the two men in.

When he closes the door, the man next to Aaron vigilantly scans the area behind them.

Their cautious behavior starts to make you feel uneasy, and you get the feeling that something is about to happen.

Once they are inside, the man next to Aaron lifts the side of his collar a little, as if he's communicating with someone.

???: How is it? Any more suspicious individuals around?

???: They're gone... Slippery as eels. You should continue the investigation. I'll take care of getting information from Luke.

Luke candidly voices his questions once the other man hangs up the call.

Luke: Is someone surveilling this place? Or is someone tailing you?

You: Surveilling!?

Aaron looks at the man next to him, and both of them shake their heads.

Aaron Yishmir: Those people watching the area are unlikely to be following us, but we don't know what exactly is going on right now.

Aaron Yishmir: Maybe they're here for you, or maybe they're here for something else.

Luke: Even you weren't able to figure out their motives? And who might this gentleman be? He looks kinda familiar...

Luke casts his gaze on the other man. Aaron finally realizes the problem and begins the introduction.

Aaron Yishmir: I almost forgot to introduce him. This is the officer who asked us to work on Morten Rickmon's case last time. He's Officer Jim Day.

The man being introduced is wearing ordinary clothes, and he steps up to eagerly shake your and Luke's hands.

Jim Day: Nice to meet you both.

You: (So it's him. No wonder I thought I'd seen him before.)

You suddenly realize they might be about to discuss a case, and it could be inappropriate for you to stick around.

You're concerned they might be unwilling to ask for you to leave in front of Luke, so you broach the topic yourself.

You: You have business to discuss, right? Then I'll excuse myself...

Aaron Yishmir: No, no, there's no need for you to leave. In fact... We might need both your and Luke's help on this case.

You: Huh?

You look at Luke in slight confusion.

Luke: What exactly happened?

Aaron and Officer Day both wear serious expressions. They look at each other and nod. Aaron raises his hand, indicating that he will explain things first.

Jim Day: We are essentially trying to find a missing young man and we're hoping that you might be able to help us.

Officer Day brings up a digital document that contains detailed images and information.

You and Luke both shuffle over to see the pictures in the document.

You: Isn't this... the young man I almost ran into?

Luke: Tony Lester, 18 years old... The address is Unit 819, West Hemingway Heights Street... All the information matches. It's him.

Luke's finger softly swipes past the screen. His brows become even more furrowed after he confirms that the young man's information matches the person you saw.

Luke: What do you mean he's missing? We just saw him this morning.

Aaron Yishmir: He was found collapsed on the side of the road last morning. A nurse found him there and got him to the hospital.

Aaron Yishmir: He's been asleep all this time with a low fever that no one has been able to determine the cause of. Neither oral medication nor IV infusions did much.

Aaron Yishmir: We also found out later that he has signs of internal organ failure and... intermittent neuropathic pain.

Aaron pauses a little when he finishes, and then deliberately looks at both of you.

Luke: ...

You: !!!

You instinctively look at Luke, who is next to you. He, too, appears a little shocked.

You: A fever from unknown origin, organ failure, intermittent nerve pain...

You: Those symptoms... sound like...

Luke pats your hand inconspicuously, continuing the hypothesis you haven't finished articulating.

Luke: It's very similar to the symptoms we saw with Kilner, Rickmon's girlfriend, no?

Aaron Yishmir: Yes, but... I was concerned that maybe I was jumping to conclusions, and I wanted to wait until Tony was awake to ask him about the details and do more tests.

Aaron Yishmir: But then... He disappeared...

It definitely isn't normal for him to disappear like that.

You: Can you tell when he left from the hospital's surveillance cameras?

Aaron Yishmir: All we know is that he left the hospital at around 2 AM, and we haven't found him since.

Aaron Yishmir: I was very puzzled by that too. Once he left his hospital room, he kept looking at the surveillance cameras... as if...

Luke: As if he was deliberately avoiding the cameras?

Aaron Yishmir: That's right!

Jim Day: We checked all the surveillance footage over the past few days and found that, apart from the city hospital, the only other place Tony has shown up is outside the antique shop this morning...

Officer Day pauses and suddenly seems to recall something. He then looks at Luke.

Jim Day: Right! You just said that Tony asked you to fix an antique. Did he say anything? Did you feel like anything was off?

Luke: ...

Luke recounts the events from this morning and takes them to look at the item. However, no one can tell what might be wrong with it, and everyone remains quite confused.

Luke: It's strange... Why did he leave as soon as he woke up? Why is he avoiding the surveillance cameras? And why did he ask me to fix an antique?

Luke: Where did he go when we lost contact with him? And where is he now? ...Or did something happen to him?

Luke: And why does he have symptoms similar to Kilner's? How are they related...?

Luke slowly lays out the suspicious points he has noticed so far.

You suddenly grasp a vague yet crucial hypothesis from his words.

You: Kilner's symptoms were due to the unregulated medications made by Victoria Pharmaceuticals, and this young man is experiencing something similar... Wouldn't that mean...

Your guess does not surprise the officer. He calmly nods at you in apparent agreement.

Jim Day: We've thought about it too, and that's why we decided to ask for your help.

Jim Day: We are still trying to catch Victoria Pharmaceuticals and the forces behind them. If the two are indeed related, then we might scare them before our nets can afford to close.

Jim Day: Therefore, we hope we can work together again, just like how we did with Rickmon. You investigate in the open, and we will do it in the dark. That way, things would go easier for both parties.

Luke: No problem. I'm happy to cooperate with the investigations. As for [Player], she...

You: I'm happy to help too!

Worried that Luke will refuse to have you participate, you quickly volunteer yourself.

However, you didn't expect Luke to give a light smile when he sees your reaction, and the previous seriousness and solemnity disappear from his face.

Luke: You took the words right out of my mouth! That's what I wanted to say.

Luke turns his head a little and winks at you to indicate that you can relax.

Luke: We'll do our best to support the police.

Jim Day: Thank you. If we find anything on our end, we'll let you know as well.

Luke: Okay.

As they are about to leave, Aaron turns as if he remembered something and gestures outside the window.

Aaron Yishmir: Don't forget to check your surveillance and guard yourself against the suspicious individuals who have appeared around here.

Luke: Don't worry. Are you forgetting what my former profession was, Aaron?

Aaron Yishmir: True. Well, we'll be off then! Let us know if you hear anything.

Aaron waves and leaves with the other officer. Luke looks outside the window, deep in thought. He then mumbles to himself.

Luke: I feel like... this is more than just a "disappearance."

You: Luke?

Luke: Nothing. Let's go upstairs and have a look at the surveillance tape for the front door. If that's all good, then let's head outside to investigate.

You: Okay. That sounds like a safe plan.
