It's been a week since Berry was neutered. Today is the day you can finally remove the Elizabethan Collar.

Berry's new owner has also been settled during this time.

After Marius learned about Berry's situation, he put together a detailed adoption plan for Berry.

You: Although Marius always seems to have something against Berry, he's also the one that puts in the most effort in taking care of him.

You: I just can't understand why Marius always acts so strange when he's dealing with Berry.

You: However, at the end of the day, it's because of him that everything has been successfully sorted out.

You: Now that Berry's new owner has been decided, we can send him to his new home today.

The thought of never seeing Berry again churns your heart bitterly.

The von Hagen Estate

You arrive at the von Hagen estate, and Mr. Way informs you that Marius hasn't woken up yet. You walk directly to the bedroom on the second floor as you did last time.

You: I wonder if Marius got in a fight with Berry again.

You: I really hope it's not a disaster behind the bedroom door...

You gently push open the bedroom door as you continue to worry about Marius...

But what you see is the complete opposite of your worries.

A man and a cat are sleeping comfortably on the bed.

You: Hmm... this was how Berry behaved on his first day at the von Hagen estate.

The two are rarely ever so quiet when they're awake, but now...

They're sleeping comfortably and quietly next to one another.

You: It seems like Marius is already comfortable having Berry by his side.

The breeze moves the curtains and cool air flows into the room. Berry's fur sways in the wind as if a hand is stroking him.

Berry seems to have felt the breeze. He rubs his face on his fish toy and stretches out before burying himself even deeper into the sheets.

You: Hah... I never knew that fish toy had that expression on its face.

The fish toy has a teardrop at the edge of its eye, much like Marius when Berry pushes his limits every day.

Seeing how Berry is holding on tightly to the doll, you suddenly understand their way of coexisting.

You: The man and the cat are perfect for each other.

You: I bet, deep down, Berry actually likes Marius.

As you are warmed by the view in front of you, Berry suddenly jolts awake as if something happened in his dreams.

He tosses away the toy in his paws and jumps into the air before landing heavily on Marius.

Marius: Oww!

Berry glares at Marius after hearing his pained scream. He then jumps off the bed and escapes through the door crack.

Marius: Ahhh!

Marius was shocked by the sudden commotion and is now wide awake. He places in hands on his waist and slowly sits up.

Marius: Tsk... Berry... you really are a piece of work.

You: Does it hurt? Let me take a look. Did he scratch you?

You walk up to Marius and lift his shirt to find two shallow scratches etched on his smooth skin at the side of his slender body.

You: (Wow... that scratch mark was through the blanket... How hard did Berry jump on Marius...?)

Marius: Ouch...

Marius purposely moans in pain, but it does look like it hurts a lot.

You: Let me get some ointment for that.

You quickly grab the disinfectant from the nightstand and gently apply it on the slightly swollen marks.

Marius: Seeing you're so concerned about me, Miss, I don't feel the pain anymore.

You: (I knew he was up to something... Yet... I still fell for it!)

You stand up and help Marius out of bed.

You: If it doesn't hurt anymore, then hurry and get up. We still have to take Berry to his new owner later.

Marius holds on to your hand as he finds his balance. He smiles at you after hearing what you said.

Marius: Oh, there's no rush. I have something I want to show you.

You: What is it?

Marius grabs your hand and leads you out of the bedroom.

Von Hagen Estate - Sitting Room (Day).png

Walking down the stairs with Marius, you notice the picture frame in the middle of the living room. You must've missed it on your way up earlier.

You: What's this?

Marius: Have you forgotten already? This is the portrait that I painted of you and Berry at the studio last time.

Marius: I had a custom picture frame made, and it arrived yesterday. Let's frame the picture together.

You: Oh, right! I haven't seen the finished painting yet. Where is it now?

You weren't expecting to see such a surprised look on Marius' face.

Marius: I remember putting it next to... Berry...

Marius walks over and stops in place helplessly. That is when you realize that the painting was placed right next to the picture frame.

Berry must have knocked it over as he dashed downstairs earlier. The painting fell over and landed on a blind spot. That's why you couldn't see it from the stairs.

The culprit is also sitting right on top of it without a sliver of guilt in his eyes.

Marius: Good thing there's a cover over it, or Berry would've added a few strokes of his own on the portrait.

You and Marius are now very skilled in dealing with situations like this.

As the comforter, your job is to hold Berry in your arms while Marius unveils the painting to you for the first time.

The girl in the painting is holding onto a gray kitten with purple eyes.

Though it might be because of the lighting, the painting is simple yet captivating.

You can feel the brimming happiness in the person in the painting just by looking at it.

You: So, you knew exactly what I had on my mind at the time.

Marius sits down next to you and looks at the painting with you.

Marius: That's because the artist was thinking the same thing as the person in the painting.

Berry looks at the painting, then up at you as if he has noticed something.

Berry: Meow.

Marius leans over and gently pets Berry.

Marius: Although he's always getting on my nerves, it's still hard knowing that we'll be sending him off soon.

You: Then let's hurry and frame the painting. It'll be something to remember our time with Berry by.

You and Marius place the painting inside the mahogany frame.

With the addition of the picture frame, the preciousness and sentimental feeling of the painting magnifies.

Berry watches quietly as the two of you frame the painting. It's as if Berry has understood something.

You: Berry, you've gotta stay happy and have fun at your new home, okay? We'll miss you!

Marius picks Berry up and places him into the pet carrier. As Marius closes the carrier door, Berry struggles and tries hard to reach for Marius' hand.

You: Marius, it looks like Berry wants to stay with you.

Marius pokes Berry's furry forehead through the carrier.

Marius: Keep it together, little one. We'll come to visit you at your new home, okay?

Berry: Meow.

It's as if Berry understands what Marius said. He widens his round eyes and starts to act cute.

It's like Berry's saying, "You guys have to come, okay?"

You: We'll definitely keep our promise and come visit you, Berry.
