You: The weather is great today.

Marius: Yeah, the summer sun's warmth and energy is truly revitalizing.

You: Look, the walls on that new skyscraper are beautiful!

Marius: I heard the person who designed that building is a mathematician.

Marius: The design is inspired by the "slice theorem" in geometry.

You: Slice theorem?

Marius: Yeah, isn't there a mathematical theorem that describes how a single slice can create form out of something formless?

Marius: To use us as an analogy...

He turns and looks at you very seriously.

Marius: Every time I look into your eyes, life is sliced into infinite, tiny eternities.

You: ...

Cloudland District

You: Hey, this street... kind of looks like a scene from a movie.

Marius: Yeah? Which movie?

You: Um...

You: I think it was that old movie we watched at your house before?

You: Do you remember that scene where the main characters sat on chairs and talked to each other? This place looks similar to the setting in the movie.

Marius: I see... Come here, Miss. Get closer to me.

Marius leans toward you and hugs you tightly.

Marius: Is this the pose?

You: Um, yeah...

Cloudland District

You: (The vintage clock on that building really fits in well with the atmosphere.)

You: (But... it doesn't seem to be showing the current time?)

Cloudland District

You: There aren't many people at the convention center today...

Marius: Cloudland District is pretty remote, and the exhibition space in this convention center isn't very big, so it makes sense that it wouldn't be that popular.

You: Yeah, maybe everyone... prefers to go to the Science and Technology Museum in the city center.

Marius: But it's good to have fewer people here.

Marius: No one will bother us. We can enjoy living in our own little world together — how marvelous.

You: It does sound great when you put it like that.

Cloudland District

You: Is that... an ancient bluebird fossil?

Marius: A bluebird? That reminds me, bluebirds have been a symbol of happiness since ancient times.

You: That's probably because no matter which era, people need something physical to symbolize their beautiful thoughts and messages.

You: After all, an intangible concept like "happiness" is difficult to express in words, so people need an image to represent it.

Marius: I actually think happiness needs to be personally felt. Just like how I feel extremely happy right now.

You: Yeah...

Marius: Let's see which area this fossil is in. Don't people say that bluebirds are witnesses to happiness?

You: Yeah, let's go check it out together.

Cloudland District

You: There wasn't a second floor before. Did they expand it?

Marius: Do you want to go up and take a look together?

You: Sure.

Stage 3

  • (Is this a shallow water reef?)
  • (It looks like there's something moving inside... Ah! It's a daggertooth pike conger!)
  • (The blue light really makes you feel like you're underwater...)
  • (The fish stickers on the ground are so cute.)

Cloudland District

You: There are so many fish! Whoa, look over there... Those blue fish are forming a school and swimming around!

Marius: According to the description... they belong to a type of ray-finned fish, right? They're pretty!

You: Such a school of fish... must look amazing in the deep sea.

Marius: Why don't we go snorkeling at the beach sometime? We can see for ourselves how fish swim in the ocean.

You: Okay! Looks like we have a plan for our next trip.

Cloudland District

You: Speaking of which, this place used to be a flower and pet market.

Marius: Yeah, I know. When I was a kid, I came to the flower and pet market all the time to watch the tropical fish... Every visit I would watch them for a long time.

You: So little Marius liked tropical fish?

You: I think there's an area here that exhibits tropical fish. Do you want to check it out with me?

Marius: Sure, that's a deal. You gonna shop this area with me.

Cloudland District

You: There's always a bunch of small fish following this one. It's like it's leading the other little fish...

You: There's a sign posted here...

You: "All winding roads will eventually converge, just like rivers that flow into the sea."

Marius: Is that the aquarium's slogan? It's pretty philosophical.

You: "All roads lead to Rome"... isn't that what it's expressing?

Marius: I think it means, whether a person or fish, as long as you find your other half...

Marius: No matter how far apart you are, you will slowly make your way toward one another and always be together.

You: Yeah...

Old Street Walkway
North Stellis - Street (Day).png

You and Marius stroll along a path, the cool and comfortable early summer wind dissolving the fatigue from your bodies.

You: Looks like your detour was a good choice after all.

Marius: Yep, I told you. I won't get lost.

You: I'm not worried about that. Even if we get lost, we can always use the GPS on our phones. I trust my sense of direction.

Marius: Even without GPS, you won't get lost. I'm... really familiar with the area.

A certain emotion cuts through Marius' words, but before you have time to catch it, it's already disappeared without a trace.

Today you decided to go to the park that Marius used to visit when he was little. The old park is located far away from the city center, tucked away in the suburbs.

You: This place is so desolate... It's like a different world compared to the direction your life took...

Marius: When I was in school, an old painter lived out in the suburbs. Payton would drive me there to practice on the weekends.

You: So... this is where you made memories with that old painter?

Marius: Well... no. You'll know when we get there.

Stellis Cloudland District
Old Park
Stellis - River (Sunset).png

It's dusk when you arrive after a walk. The setting sun stretches your shadows long on the ground.

Nowadays, no one visits this empty park. Only a few well-preserved facilities are still standing.

You: Judging by the look of things... is this place going to be demolished?

Marius: Yeah. But this place was really popular years ago.

You: Popular?

Marius: Yeah. Back then, children living in the area would come here to play.

Marius: I often saw them lining up to play these swings from the car window.

Marius wears a slightly lonely expression, an expression that you begin to feel doesn't belong on his face.

You: Marius... back then... did you want to play on the swings too?

Marius: Yeah. But I couldn't play with other kids then. So when I got home, I told my brother about it.

Marius: My brother promised to build a swing set for me in the backyard of our estate. But he was always too busy to finish it.

You piece together an image from his words — a small and lonely figure, standing in the yard, quietly looking at the half-finished swing set.

You: Then... are they going to demolish everything?

Marius: Yeah. But the real estate developer is probably going to keep these facilities in the park.

Marius: After all, it's going to be remade into an apartment complex. These facilities will likely be used within the complex...

You look around, your gaze moving from the slide to the swings...

You: Marius!

Marius is taken aback for a moment, probably because he didn't expect you to call out to him so suddenly.

You: Before it gets expropriates, let's use this as our secret base, okay?

Marius: Secret... base?

You: C'mon.

Just like he's done countless times, you step straight forward and take his hand in yours, pulling him toward the swings in his confusion.

You: When I was little, my friends and I would find a small warehouse to use as a secret base after school.

You: Then we'd pretend to be generals and soldiers. When the general gave an order, the soldiers had to listen. There were so many fun things to do every day...

You: I'm going to be the general. Private von Hagen, let's play on the swings together!

You stand on the swing, an old-fashioned one that is wide enough for two adults. You tug on the chain to make sure it's still strong enough.

You: C'mon!

Marius: ...

Marius: Okay.

After Marius gets over his initial surprise, he smiles faintly before joining you on the swing.

You push on the chain lightly to make the swing move, and Marius follows your rhythm. Soon, you two are swaying like the gentle cadence of the ocean's waves...

You: I didn't expect it to be so sturdy. I was a little worried just now.

You: Hey, Marius, what are you looking at?

Marius: Nothing... I was just thinking that I can see so much more when I'm standing on the swing.

You: But we're not very high up... What do you see?

Marius: It's probably because standing on the swing with you lets me see more of the future laid out in front of us.

Marius: The scenery I see with you is always different from the scenery I look at alone.

As night falls, the street lamps are illuminated one by one. The warm, yellow light shines on Marius' face tenderly.

There is a lingering light in his eyes, and a warmth in his gaze that makes your face feel hot.

You: Um...

Marius: General [Player], we're sharing a secret base now. If I may, shouldn't we hold an official Ceremony of Alliance?

You: A what?

A warm smile spreads across his face. His face suddenly comes close, and in the next moment, you feel a soft tingle on your lips.

You: ...

Marius: The Secret Exchange Ceremony is now complete!
