DeliCart

From Tears of Themis Wiki

DeliCart is a small restaurant review platform seeking to gain investors to expand its business. Its revenues are earned through monthly membership fees paid by restaurant owners: $300 monthly for a basic membership, or $4500 monthly for premium membership that includes PR services for restaurants who are concerned about poor reviews or past negative incidents.

Story[edit | edit source]

In reality, DeliCart hires ghostwriters and other troublemakers to review-bomb and otherwise harass its member restaurants in an effort to sell its premium membership and PR services, and it implements abusive practices such as forcing sales reps who fail to meet their monthly targets to physically punish themselves in front of their teams. While the restaurant owners targeted by DeliCart are aware of what is being done to them, DeliCart's manipulation of the internet and rumors of powerful backers such as the Pax Group prevent the owners from banding together and acting against DeliCart.[1]

DeliCart's abusive environment led ones of its sales managers to intentionally contaminate a restaurant's water supply in an attempt to sell premium PR services to make the incident "go away." The criminal case that followed revealed DeliCart's illegal practices and led to a lawsuit against the company that caused all investors to pull out.[2]
