Go to guestroom R3 and scan the room.

You: I thought this room was special, so I wanted to check it out...

You: At first, I was worried whether the passenger in this carriage would consent to a search of her room.

You: I never thought she would agree the moment she heard I was from Themis Law Firm... And she even said I could borrow it during the day.

You: Who would've known that our firm's reputation has spread this far.

You: No time to linger on that thought. I should check the room with the scanner.

Following Dr. Miller's instructions, you perform a scan of the room...

Before long, the screen shows the layout of the room and the distribution of crystals.

You: Perfect. This room meets all the requirements. Now I can proceed with the next step.

Guestroom R3: Abundant Minerals - R3

There are empty spots. Gather more crystals to place in them.

You: All done!

With the last crystal in place, you prepare to turn on the scanner.

Before you can do so, there is a noise in the corner of the room.

Another phenomenon appears in just a few seconds, just like it did in the first carriage...

You: Something appeared again... Will this happen every time I place the crystals down?

You: In any case, I should notify the conductor...

You call over the conductor to explain the situation, and he leaves in the same manner to communicate with the passenger staying here.

In the face of this sudden situation, you can't help but feel a little guilty inside.

You: The passenger will get an upgrade to a luxury carriage... I guess that isn't a "bad situation" for her.

You: Oh well... It can't be helped. I should check on the room.

You: All good. I'll come back at night.

You: And I don't know if the shadows will show up like before...

You: Oh, right! Luke said that Mr. Wing is willing to help as well. I'll ask him before coming here tonight then.

Guestroom R3: Night Investigation - R3

It's late at night. Time to check out the room.

You: Mr. Wing?

You: I was looking for you in your room... When you weren't there, I thought Miss Schneider wanted to see you.

Artem: Sorry, I happened to be nearby and stopped by without telling you.

You: It's fine, you came at the right time. Shall we get started?

Artem: Yes. After observing all the phenomena in the room, I still haven't found anything special.

Artem: I'm not too familiar with the scanner yet, even after hearing Luke's explanation.

Artem: So how about you operate the scanner? I will adjust the location of the crystals accordingly.

You: Okay, no problem!

Guestroom R3: Change Acting Force - R3

Adjust the crystals to find the most suitable acting force.

After Artem changes the location of the crystals, a faint fog begins to pour in from the four corners of the room...

Just like it did in the other carriage.

Artem: Did you both also...?

You: Yeah.

Artem's expression returns to normal after seeing you nod.

This time... a faint shadow appears not far away.

Guestroom R3: Terrible Past - R3

A figure has appeared. Listen to what he says.

The half-transparent shadow floats above the ground as you and Artem stare at it.

After a few minutes or so, the shadow begins speaking, just as expected.

???: ...*Sobs*...

???: Coverup.... coverup...

???: ...Hurt others... You all... Hurt others!

???: *Sobs*... Oh, the indifference... Why...

???: ...*Sobs*... Over, all over...

The shadow's voice is mournful, quite different from the husky voice of the mysterious shadow in the previous carriage...

It spouts its accusations over and over, as if it has a special power of channeling the emotions of others into its words...

Artem: [Player], are you okay?

Suddenly, Artem taps you gently on the shoulder to get your attention.

You: I-I'm fine. I just couldn't help getting sucked in by its voice.

Artem: I'm glad you're okay.

Artem: According to you and Luke, the shadows only make noises and can't hurt anyone. Even so, please be careful.

You: ...Thank you for your concern, Mr. Wing. I'll stay safe.

You: Speaking of which, this shadow has a different voice than the one in the previous carriage, but the circumstances of their appearance are similar...

You: From this perspective, could we be seeing... a projection of something that happened a hundred years ago?

Artem holds his chin for a moment, deep in thought, then nods.

Artem: Perhaps there's a connection between them.

You: A connection...

You: Oh right, the shadow in the previous carriage mentioned Bakerlon Daily and something about a news story...

You: Does its identity have anything to do with Bakerlon Daily?

Artem: Well...

The shadow cries out before Artem can answer.

???: Won't let me publish... So what...

???: One day... one day! People will know...

???: ...You... will all...

???: ...*Sobs*... Truth...

Afterward, the shadow starts repeating the first thing it said over and over again in a soft, resentful voice...

Its grief seems to fill the room.

You: It seems... like something important didn't get published.

Artem doesn't respond, frowning slightly with his head down in thought.

After a few minutes, he turns to look at you.

Artem: I was skeptical at first, now it seems the information I learned was not necessarily "nonsense."

You: Eh? What are you talking about, Mr. Wing?

Artem: When I was compiling information about Bakerlon mineral resources, I did some brief research on Kahn Corporation.

Artem: An unnamed media outlet published a "gossip story" about the personal interests between Bakerlon Daily and Kahn Corporation...

Artem: So, whether consciously or not, the Bakerlon Mining Daily will publish news that is only good for Kahn Corporation.

At this moment, Artem frowns, his expression becoming serious.

Artem: When I saw the publication, I dismissed it as an unsubstantiated "exposé" and didn't give it much thought.

Artem: But now it seems like there are personal interests involved between Bakerlon Mining Daily and Kahn Corporation...

Artem: It is reasonable to suspect that there was collusion between Bakerlon Daily and the Kahn family a hundred years ago.

You: You're right. I haven't seen any other reporters on the train except for the one from Bakerlon Mining Daily...

You: For a grand event like the embarkation ceremony, the number of reporters attending... is rather little.

You: Unless it was arranged by Kahn Corporation.

Artem nods in agreement.

Artem: If we consider what it said from this perspective, we can draw more conclusions.

An idea comes to mind as you remember what the shadow repeated.

You: So it was likely a reporter for the Bakerlon Daily...

You: And the "you all" it's talking about are the Kahn family?

Artem: My thoughts exactly.

Artem: Perhaps the reporter knew something that it wanted to go public with... but didn't realize that the newspaper it worked for was colluding with the Kahn family...

Artem: The article was taken down before publication.... and it might have even been threatened.

Artem: Not to mention, in those days, information wasn't as readily available as it is today...

Artem: By doing so, they prevented the possibility of ordinary people finding out the truth by cutting off the source.

You: ...

Although everything Artem just said was speculation, the cruelty involved is probably close to the truth.

Listening to the cries of the half-transparent shadow filled with sadness, you feel a chill in your heart...

The Kahn Corporation is involved in almost every strange thing that has happened on this train.

And the connections between what the shadows are saying... point directly back to the Kahn family one hundred years ago.

What has the Kahn family hidden in the depths of the shadows?

You: So far, everything points to the Kahn family...

You: We need to find more information.

Artem looks up at the shadow not far away, then nods.

Artem: I don't believe we will learn anything more here.

Artem: Let's go back and tell the others.

You: All right.
