Marius, Vincent Kim, and the main character take a weekend trip to a remote village to speak to Lane Chapman, the temporary worker who sabotaged the CCTV to cover the theft of Jason Sanders' personnel file. Lane cooperates with the trio's questioning when he's offered double whatever he was previously paid, revealing that he met with two employers who wore hats and masks and that the older man wore a silver ring on his pinky. Later, Marius reveals the ring points to Sheldon Harrison, but says he's reluctant to believe it without more proof.
