Summary

The main character tells Artem of her decision to look into Van Kerrel's case, and Artem reveals it to be an X-NOTE case, considered anomalous because Van had received treatment for his depression and was considered to have no longer been suicidal at the time of his death. As she looks through the X-NOTE case file, the MC asks about Johnny Bailey, Van's caretaker who was hired by Lawrence to help with his depression treatment, but Artem notes that Johnny was on holiday in a neighboring state and is not considered connected to the crime.

The MC asks Artem whether Marius is a member of the NXX Investigation Team, having put the pieces together from the team's Pax funding and the way Marius is covertly investigating Van's case. Artem does not confirm directly but praises her deductive skills, and the MC confirms that if X03A is not an isolated case, she wants to join the team regardless of any danger; Artem then agrees to grant her access to the NXX database and headquarters as needed.
