Napo Bio-Research Station
Accompanied by Leyla, you arrive at the biological research station at the edge of the Napo Jungle.
The Pax Technology logo on the sign in front of the station makes you feel like you're back in Stellis.
You: (Pax is expanding so quickly. In the near future, we may be able to see its logo all over the world.)
Leyla Casey: Look. We cleared this area as an experimental field for growing parrot flowers.
In the experimental area behind the biological research station, you two finally see the famous parrot flower.
You: These are... parrot flowers?
The soft soil is dotted with green, sparsely spread seedlings that appear to have recently sprouted.
No matter how you look at it, it's very different from the rare flower in your imagination.
Leyla Casey: Yes, these are the parrot flowers that we're cultivating.
Regardless of Leyla's affirmative reply, you still can't help but ask questions.
You: Aren't these just sprouts? The parrot flowers aren't here?
Leyla Casey: No. The original parrot flowers are still in the rainforest reserve.
Leyla Casey: We didn't want to damage its root system, so we only collected a few samples to try our hand at artificially growing them.
Leyla Casey: We've had a few twists and turns in the growing process...
Leyla Casey: But good thing we already knew the basics of cultivating the sprouts. Their survival and budding rates are fairly stable.
Marius: Can you give us a simplified explanation of the sprout-growing process?
Leyla Casey: Parrot flowers can only grow well when in a symbiotic relationship with certain rainforest ferns.
Leyla Casey: So we figured out how to blend a special nutrient soil.
Leyla Casey: In the rainforest's humid climate, sprouts usually break soil within seven to 10 days.
Marius: Hmm... Do you think this flower could eventually be grown on a larger scale?
Leyla Casey: It's theoretically possible if the correct techniques are utilized.
You: Can you tell us how you grow them?
Leyla Casey: It's actually not that hard. Parrot flowers can be propagated with the standard cutting method.
Leyla Casey: Our research center is currently developing an improved nutrient solution that will improve our efficiency in growing parrot flowers.
Marius: Are you currently able to validate the medicinal value of parrot flowers?
Leyla Casey: Right now, we can confirm that parrot flowers contain an alkaloid that demonstrates a significant antagonistic effect against autoimmune diseases.
Leyla Casey: I'm sure we'll learn even more after future pharmacological analyses.
Marius: Based on what we know so far, is it safe to say that parrot flowers have economic value?
Leyla Casey: Yes. I'm sure they'll be worth a lot if they can be grown en masse.
Leyla Casey: Of course, everything is in the planning stage and needs to be verified by further experimental data.
Marius: Yeah, about as expected... "Project Growth Support" should work.
Growth support? You recall the project that Marius mentioned yesterday, and your curiosity is piqued again.
As you're about to ask Marius about the project, suddenly a noise comes from outside the research station.
Researcher: Not good, not good. Those people are stirring up trouble again.
Researcher: They heard that we're cultivating parrot flowers, so they're demanding that we give them some of the seedlings!
You: (This again...)
Even after being driven away several times, those people have unexpectedly returned to the Napo Jungle again.
Marius: What are the chances? I've been meaning to look for them...
