Indigenous Leader: You... Are you serious? Your people wish to work with us?
After hearing Marius's proposal to help with cultivating parrot flowers, the locals grow quiet.
They suspiciously scrutinize you two, who come from beyond the rainforest.
They seem to be trying to understand your reason for proposing such a plan.
Marius: It's true. Why would I lie to you?
Indigenous Leader: I—I don't know. Why would outsiders want to help us?
Marius: Well... I should probably talk about things like environmental protection and preserving ecological balance.
Marius: But I'm too lazy to talk about such serious topics. I just want to tell you all one thing...
Marius: It's not wrong for us to want to live a good life, but we need to work together to leave something for future generations, too.
Indigenous Leader: ...
The villagers go quiet. The previous speaker stares intently at Marius.
Indigenous Leader: Tell us: How do you want to work with us?
Marius: It's simple. We work together, combining local know-how with modern science to understand how to best grow parrot flowers.
Marius: Once the flowers you grow start to gain economic benefit, things should slowly start to get better.
The villagers gather and discuss things in the local language for quite some time.
You: (...Things should be all right.)
After some time, the previous speaker steps forward, seemingly ready to address you.
Indigenous Leader: We... will trust you this time.
Marius: Good. I'll have the head of the biological research station take things from here.
The villagers nod in approval to what Marius said.
You: (We did it!)
While the researcher begins discussions with the locals, Marius tugs your sleeve and looks you in the eyes.
Marius: Miss... What do you think of my solution?
You: It's great. I didn't expect you to solve things so perfectly.
Marius: Does this mean I get double the reward?
Reward? Does he mean your unfinished compliment from last night?
You: Yeah, I have newfound respect for you!
Marius: That's too cliché. No creativity at all.
Marius: For all my efforts, don't I deserve even greater praise...?
Marius puts on a sulking expression and his classic puppy-dog eyes.
You know that he's intentionally doing this as a joke, but you can't help but feel for him just a little.
You: Um... Let's be pragmatic... After we return, I'll take you out for dinner, a movie, and games?
Marius: No, no, that's even more half-assed.
Marius: If you ask me, you can reward me by... coming with me to eat fried fish with grilled ant sauce.
You: Sure th— Wait, grilled what now?
Marius: Fried fish with grilled ant sauce. It's a local specialty.
Marius looks very eager as he repeats his words seriously. He's not messing with you, is he?!
You: That's all you want...?
Marius: I'm serious. It'd be a waste to come all the way here and not try something new, right?
Marius: I remember that the sauce uses ants that are unique to the Napo Jungle...
Marius: It tastes like ginger and lemongrass. It'll go perfectly with arapaima.
Marius: Miss, try it with me, will ya?
