The information that the both of you collected becomes the strongest evidence against the unethical mining facility.

The local police swiftly closed the diamond mine down, and transferred the miners to another mine operated by the local government.

Your hard work has finally paid off. Now, you can finally sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenic view of the Kulu Mine.

You: It's so tranquil here... I hope the storm in Kulu Mine will eventually calm.

Luke: The local government is now involved. I'm sure the situation will get better very soon.

You: The gap between the rich and the poor in Tambyani is huge. There are artificial beaches and central business districts in Shanya, the capital...

You: But there are only huts, tribes, and people living in poverty who are worried about their livelihoods all the way out here in the outskirts.

Luke: In Tambyani, resource-based industries such as diamond, coal, gold, and precious stones are very developed...

Luke supports his chin with his hand as he organizes his thoughts.

Luke: But, the local businesses are still developing very slowly. It's not enough to support the country's economy.

Luke: Diamond mining is not a complex process. It can be performed by even young labors.

Luke: Thus, that's why the workers' pay is relatively low while the jewelry sales are being controlled by a small group of people.

Luke: This way, all the benefits gained will always circulate within a controlled circle.

Luke: Like a circuit covered by a bubble. The rich inside gets richer while the poor outside only gets poorer.

You: Then I guess we made a tiny hole in the bubble this time, didn't we?

Luke: Yup. I believe that the bubble will burst one day.

If no one raises a torch to light up the long night, the darkness will always remain.

Hopefully, the road ahead will be bright, now that you and Luke have raised the torch...

You: Both Mark and the golden diamond are missing... I don't think you'll be able to finish your job this time.

Luke: The client just wants his deposit back. I asked earlier and the police said that they'll urge the manager to return the deposit ASAP.

Luke: I have an inkling... about what happened to Mark...

You realize that he must've thought of something to be saying this.

You: What...? What is it? Tell me!

Luke: There is a river under the Kulu Mine, no?

Luke: The mine is about 10 meters above the riverbed... The river is very wide and the current is swift.

Luke: Mark might have been injured when he fell, but I don't think his life was in any danger.

Luke: I'm guessing he drifted down the river from the currents. Let's go downstream and see if we can find anything.

Downstream of the Kulu Bay River...

You: Wouldn't that be Laide River Canyon? Aren't we going to be there tomorrow!?

Luke: Yeah. That's why I'm going to look around the canyon tomorrow.

You: I need to pray for tomorrow to turn out we-

Luke: Wait a minute.

Luke picks up a vibrant bloom of an unknown flower and ties the stem around your wrist, making it into a makeshift bracelet.

You: What is this?

Luke: Try the Tambyani way of making a wish.

Luke: Tie a tough and sturdy flower, blooming with life, around your wrist and wish upon it...

Luke: Your wish will be blessed by the Flower God. No matter how many obstacles you encounter, it will all come true!

Luke solemnly holds up your hand as he speaks. The warmth passes from his palms and straight to your heart...

Luke: Done. Now make a wish!

You: I wish there will be good news tomorrow. Err... and...

You: (I hope that Luke and I can always be together and spend every day happily!)

Luke: And?

You: Nothing... The wish may not work if I tell you!

You pick a flower and tie its stem around his wrist while successfully changing the topic.

You: Why don't you make a wish too?

His hold on your palm tightens.

Luke: I hope... Your wishes will come true.

His voice is warm and sincere, like the night breeze that brushes gently against the flowers. It melts softly in your heart.

You: That... That doesn't count. What about your own wish...?

Luke: It does count. That's my wish.

His solemn voice and the warmth of his hand touching yours make you forget about the flower tied around your wrist.

Making wishes to the gods is only a gesture. The warmth from Luke's fingers is the power that reassures you.

You: Luke...

Luke: Yeah? I'm here for you.

Yes. You are not frightful nor worried at all; because Luke's here with you.

Because he's always been that kind of person... Someone who will help you realize your goals, no matter how many obstacles lie ahead.
