It is still sunny on the third day, brilliant weather for sightseeing.

After enjoying a rich local breakfast spread, the train arrives at the Tambyani National Park.

According to the route you planned, you arrive at Gerry's house in the village after being guided by one of the villagers.

You: Hello, are you Mr. Atkins?

Gerry Atkins: Who... Who are you guys?

The indigenous young man watches you cautiously, his arms hanging unnaturally at his side as if they were injured.

Looks like the person standing before you is just who you're looking for.

You: We met your friend in Amma village yesterday. She's worried about you and asked us to check on you.

You think for a moment, and find a plausible excuse.

As expected, Gerry seems to drop his guard.

Gerry Atkins: I didn't know she cared about me that much... Don't worry. My injury's nothing that serious.

Gerry Atkins: I'm almost recovered after resting for two days. I'll be able to go back to the mine in a few days.

Luke: By the way, your friend told us that something happened in the mine recently... What happened exactly?

Gerry Atkins: Oh, how could she...! She told you everything?

Kulu Mine

You: Since we already know of it, why don't you tell us about what's going on at the mine you work at?

Gerry Atkins: It's nothing, really. Some miners just got into a fight with the manager the other day.

Gerry Atkins: To the mine, we're nothing but robots. We work tirelessly for little pay, digging for diamonds all day and night.

Gerry Atkins: I doubt there's a single soul out here who could bear it.

Gerry Atkins: Besides, the mine owners are the ones to blame for this.

Gerry Atkins: Not long ago, a miner named Mark dug up a huge golden diamond.

Gerry Atkins: Mark thought that he was going to be rich and couldn't help bragging about it. But who knew that he'd... *Sigh*

In Jeremy's twisted and winding story, a key point sticks out to you.

Miner Mark

You: Huh? What happened to Mark?

Gerry Atkins: He thought that he could finally live a good life after having found such a big diamond...

Gerry Atkins: But the mine snatched the diamond and claimed it for their own without giving him a single cent of the bonus that they owed him.

Gerry Atkins: Mark got so angry that he started arguing and yelling at the head of the mine. He grabbed the diamond amidst the chaos and leaped off the cliff behind the mining facility...

You: Oh my...

Golden Diamond

You: How big was the golden diamond that Mark dug up?

Gerry Atkins: I think it was about as big as my palm.

Gerry Atkins: I'm not bragging. I've never seen a diamond that big in my life.

You: (Sounds like this could actually be the golden diamond from Luke's case.)

Gerry Atkins: Hey, don't go spreading rumors. Else, I...

Gerry hesitates, but just as he's about to continue, a gruff voice comes from behind him.

???: What nonsense are you spouting!?

A young man who doesn't look like a local marches up to you with a group of people.

Panic flashes across Gerry's face upon seeing him, and he ducks his head.

You: And you are...?

???: I've warned you, don't tell anyone else about this! Are you trying to break the rules!?

The person marches up to Gerry, ignoring you and Luke.

???: Come with me. Now!

Seeing that the person was about to take Gerry away, Luke immediately steps in to stop the man.

Luke: Stop.

???: I'm just talking to my people from the mine. What are you trying to do?

Gerry Atkins: Well... This is our manager... at the mine.

Gerry looks panicked, as if he is terrified of the manager.

You: You don't have the right to take anyone away.

Mining Boss: Ha! What happens in the mine is none of your business!

[Debate]

Debate success

Mining Boss: Hmph, I can't waste time talking to you.

Mining Boss: Come on, Gerry. Your sick leave is over. Time to return to the mine, won't you say?

The manager firmly grabs onto Gerry's arm as if afraid that you'd snatch him right out of his grasp.

Gerry Atkins: ...

You: Wait!

Before you can say anything, the manager has already taken Gerry into his jeep.

You can't do anything other than watch the car drive away.

Debate failure

Gerry Atkins: Do you have anything else to say? Humph, I've told you this is none of your business!

You: (Dang...)

You: (No. I need to calm down... Let me think, I must be able to think of something to refute him!)
