You'd thought that looking for information about Mark would turn out to be a rather tough ordeal, but...

Surprisingly enough, you managed to get information on him after a simple exchange with the villagers.

Villager A: That Mark person you speak of is now recuperating in our village.

Villager A: A few days ago, he was washed down the river to our village. My husband saved him.

You: (Mark is really here!)

Luke: How is he? Is he badly hurt?

Villager A: He's fine now. He was injured and in a coma for a few days, but he just woke up yesterday.

You: (He was in a coma for a few days!? That sounds pretty serious...)

You: Can you take us to him?

Villager A: Sure. Follow me.

Under the guidance of the villager, you arrive at a wooden cottage where Mark's staying at.

A middle-aged man in a miner's clothes is resting in the house. He instantly gets up upon seeing you, eyeing you warily.

Mark: Who are you?

You: Hello, Mark. We're...

You tell him about your experience in the past few days and what happened in the mine.

Mark's expression changes from surprised to shocked, from astonished to sentimental.

After listening to what you have to say, he remains silent for a long time, seemingly lost in thought.

Mark: I'm not dreaming, am I?

After a long silence, Mark finally speaks. But he still sounds very skeptical.

Luke: We are telling the truth.

Luke: The police have already started to take over the mine. Things should turn for the better once you get back.

You: By the way, your child is very worried about you. He has been waiting for you to come back.

Mark: Ah, the little guy must be very worried.

Mark awkwardly runs his hand through his hair and smiles bashfully.

Physical condition

You: How do you feel?

You notice that Mark's legs are wrapped in bandages. His injuries look pretty serious.

Mark: Don't worry about me. I'm good.

Mark: My legs just got all scraped up by the rocks when I fell into the river.

Mark: The doctor bandaged me up and said that the injuries should heal in a couple more days.

Whereabouts of the diamond

You: Hey, do you mind showing me the golden diamond?

You: (After hearing rumors about it for days, I can barely contain myself. I'm going to explode from anticipation.)

Mark: It's... gone.

You: Huh? What happened to it...?

Mark: When I fell into the river, the diamond slipped out of my hand.

Mark: I don't know where it dropped, exactly. I don't think I'll ever be able to find it. I'm crushed...

Luke: That's a pity.

You: (I thought I'd at least get a glance of the legendary diamond, but I guess it'll just remain as a legend forever now...)

What do you plan to do next

Luke: What are your plans for the future? Do you plan to keep working in the mine?

Mark: It's hard to tell. It depends on how things go in the mine now.

Mark: I guess I'll first see how the police want to deal deals with it... All in all, I don't want to be taken advantage of anymore!

You: Yeah. Everything else can wait. Just focus on getting back on your feet right now.

Mark: To be honest, this all still feels like a dream.

Mark: I can't believe that... this matter has been resolved, and so smoothly, too...

Mark: Thank you. Without you guys... I don't think I'd ever be able to go back home.

Luke: You're welcome. It's nothing. We just did what we should.

You: Yeah. We're happy to be of help.

Mark smiles bashfully again.

His smile is as innocent and pure as the land of Tambyani.

Perhaps, this innocent smile... is our biggest reward from this journey.
