Laide River Canyon
On the last day of the trip, the train stops at a platform near Laide River Canyon.
The winding river from the Kulu Mine runs through the entire canyon, making it a breathtaking sight to behold.
You and Luke find a local guide to take you on a tour through the canyon.
Other than learning about the attractions in this scenic spot, you also take the chance to understand the local situation.
Tour Guide: Laide River Canyon is the most beautiful spot north of the savanna.
Tour Guide: Other than its stunning natural landscape, there are also many cultural attractions for tourists to experience.
Tour Guide: I guarantee that every tourist will be able to find something of interest here.
You: Sir, can you be more specific?
Tour Guide: Sure. What do you want to know? I can tell you more.
You: Do you have any recommendations for interesting sites in the canyon?
Tour Guide: Well... During this season, I'd say the most popular locations would be the Blossoms River Valley and the Canyon of Lovers.
Tour Guide: I'm sure you'll find a different kind of beauty there. They're uniquely different from other places.
You: What's Blossoms River Valley like?
Tour Guide: It's a man-made valley brimming with gorgeous plants and fauna on both sides of the river that runs through it.
Tour Guide: It's now the flowering season, so it'll be a real shame to miss the beauty of the valley in full bloom while you're here.
You: (Sounds nice... I can go take pictures and enjoy the view with Luke later!)
You: Is there anything fun to do in the Canyon of Lovers?
Tour Guide: There's no better place than the Canyon of Lovers for young couples like you to visit, as the name suggests.
Tour Guide: The two-person canoeing is tons of fun. You two should give it a try.
Before you can say anything, Luke already seems to be having a hard time containing his excitement.
Luke: Sounds real interesting! How about we try it later?
Looking at Luke's beaming smile, your answer is...
You: Sure. Let's do it!
You: Any special dishes to recommend?
Tour Guide: Food-wise, you musn't miss out on the Moissan Roast Chicken and the Tilapia Bean Soup.
Tour Guide: They'll definitely get your taste buds singing!
You: Moissan Roast Chicken? That sounds yummy.
Tour Guide: It's made from fresh chicken marinated with lime, coconut milk, and a delightful hot sauce. After marinating, it's baked till golden-brown in the oven.
Tour Guide: Trust me. It has a very rich taste and the flavor of the chicken will make your taste buds tango in delight.
Tour Guide: Many visitors rave about it. If you're curious, don't hesitate to try it.
You: (I'm in! I have to try it later.)
Luke: I've had grilled tilapia before, but how does it taste like in soup?
Tour Guide: It's really wonderful in soup too!
Tour Guide: Our soups here are made by mixing tilapia meat, after de-boning the fish, with lentil beans.
Tour Guide: It's delightfully sweet and appetizing. It's a favorite among the elderly and children in the village.
You: It sounds really good! Can we add that to the list of must-try food?
Luke: Roger!
Tour Guide: I will try my best to answer whatever questions you have.
You: That's all. We'll go have a look ourselves. Thank you, sir.
Tour Guide: You're welcome. Just doing my job. Have fun!
After saying goodbye to the guide, you and Luke follow the map and walk along the trail to the canyon.
Luke: Let's go check out the flowers at Blossoms River Valley first. Then after that, how about canoeing at the Canyon of Lovers?
You: Sounds great! We can grab something to eat at Canyon Village once we're done
Luke: By the way, I just looked at the map...
Luke: There is only one indigenous village in the entire Laide River Canyon. We can ask the villagers about Mark there.
You: Hopefully... we'll be able to find something about him.
Luke: Let's try our luck. We should be able to find something if he's really here.
