Between Light and Shadow: Recommend a movie to him
Vyn's Residence

Since the task instructs you to recommend a movie to each other, you and Vyn turn on the projector.

You: Hmm... let me think about what movies I can recommend to you.

Vyn: Having a hard time?

You: Yeah, we've seen a lot of movies together.

You: Ahh! I know!

Vyn: What is it?

You: "Witness for the Prosecution."

Vyn leans back in his chair, his head in one hand, and looks at you with interest.

You: It's a pretty old movie about a lawyer searching for the truth through a fog of mystery.

Vyn: Hmm...

You get a little excited, probably because you're talking about your favorite movie, as Vyn nods for you to continue.

You: I get excited every time I watch the trial footage in the movie.

Vyn: Were you inspired by Wilfrid's eloquence? Or caught up in the atmosphere of the trial?

You: Both. After all, who wouldn't want to become a great attorney like Wilfrid, who had such a brilliant mind...

You respond to Vyn, only to realize that something is off.

You: Wait... how do you know...?

You: Have you already seen that movie?

Vyn adjusts his glasses, and an embarrassed smile appears unexpectedly on his face.

Vyn: Yes, there is very little overlap in our professions. I worry sometimes that we run out of common topics.

Vyn: So... I did some homework in private.

You: !!!

Vyn: I find time to digest books and movies related to law, as a way to get to know you.

You: Vyn...

You hold Vyn's hand, feeling moved.

You: Well, you've seen the movie I recommended. Now it's your turn.

Vyn looks at you, his golden eyes seemingly peering straight into your heart.

Vyn: Hmm... the movie I want to show you is not a recommendation.

Vyn: Just one of my recent patients reminded me of this movie. I would like to watch it with you and get your opinion.

You: Okay, let's watch that movie.

Vyn nods and starts playing the movie.

The heart-wrenching tragedy, "The Rose of France," with its colorful imagery and bizarre plot, comes to an end.

You: Is this movie a remake? I remember the original is very famous.

Vyn: Yes, there have been adaptations based on the original, which is more difficult to understand.

The film, filled with many silent but dreamlike long shots, serves to immerse its viewers.

When the characters in the film are in love, you feel happy for them... But when the male lead becomes depressed, you feel a sense of injustice.

You can't help but be moved by the female lead's frantic desire to realize her lover's dreams.

In the end, the male lead is able to realize his dreams, but at what cost? His lover has gone insane, unable to share that happiness with him.

With all their shared memories, all he can do for her is personally end her suffering and life.

You: ...

You: Vyn, you said you thought of this movie because one of your patients was similar to the female lead?

Vyn: Yes. She could not accept the failure in her partner's career. As a result, she developed mild compulsive behaviors.

Vyn: Certainly, movies are a form of art, and some plots are exaggerated.

Vyn: But these two case files got me thinking.

You: Thinking about what?

Vyn: Too much obsession about anything is not good.

Vyn: Whether it is your own life or a relationship.

Vyn: Just let nature take its course. This may sound negative, but is that not the wisdom of life?

You: Vyn, it seems like there's more to what you said.

Vyn: You noticed?

Vyn smiles as he tucks your hair behind your ear.

Vyn: As an attorney, I believe you are well-equipped to handle the ultimate evil and good...

Vyn: But there is also the inevitable fear that you will be affected... I never used to be like this.

Hearing that, you can't help but reach out to hug Vyn.

You: Don't worry. I have Dr. Richter as my personal psychologist.

You: I believe you will keep me safe.

Vyn stares at you, his eyes welling up with emotion.

Vyn: Dr. Richter understands.

It's his occasional joke, yet you immediately understand what he means.

You: Thank you, Dr. Richter.

The two of you hold each other in silence, neither of you speaking or willing to speak.
