Marius "Overtone"/Rewards

Story Summary

This story takes place in Year 1. Marius is not yet in a relationship with the MC.

At a park in the CBD, the main character finds a street performer with a guitar in a large crowd shortly before Marius calls out to her. When she says she'd come down to relax, Marius offers to play the guitar for her instead, claiming he can probably play better than the performer.

Marius borrows the performer's guitar, angering the crowd who had been watching him, and takes the MC to the other side of the park.

The MC waits as Marius prepares for his performance, but it never comes; after long minutes of stumbling through the motions, Marius is forced to admit he can't really play.

Marius asks the MC, who wants to go return the guitar, to stay with him as he's tired from working through the weekend. When the MC starts to pity him, he pretends it was an act, which she doubts, and she offers to play a song for Marius instead.

The MC plays the song Marius had been trying to play--Romance de Amor--though she is rusty and only remembers half of it. Marius admits that today is his first time playing a real guitar, and his earlier confidence came from underestimating the difference between a real guitar and the air guitar he's fond of playing.

Marius discusses his past and his current inability to be spontaneous with some sadness after the MC offers to teach him to play guitar. The MC returns home as Marius goes to his meeting; Marius has an assistant bring his old guitar to her home, gifting it to her, and asks her to play it for him next time.

Marius: Pax invested in that restaurant. I just happened to see your name on the list of reservations.

Marius: Hey, you there? I need a favor!

Marius: Can you teach me to play the guitar?

Why all of a sudden?

You: Haha, of course!

You: Why do you want to learn how to play the guitar all of a sudden?

Marius: I just do. I want to be an all-rounder artist.

Pay up first

You: Ha? Sure, but it's gonna cost you!

Marius: Ok, no problem! You name the price. I'll be a really good student.

Marius: How about we start this weekend? My guitar and I will be waiting for you in my room!

You: That... sounded weird...

Marius: Hm? I have no clue what you mean.

Compensation for door-to-door service

You: Will there be a special compensation for providing door-to-door service?

Marius: Of course!

Marius: As a sign of my gratitude, I will accompany you to do whatever you want once we're finished. How's that?

You: Then... you have to take me out for a big meal!

You: Let's go for a movie after we finish!

Marius: Sure! I didn't expect you'd be the one to invite me out for a movie together.
