What could Timmy want you to see? Quickly follow him.

Timmy Brown: Here we are! My family lives in this neighborhood.

Timmy Brown: Go down this path, and turn around... You can see my house.

Timmy Brown: Before my brother left, he kept saying he really wanted to go home again.

Timmy Brown: I reassured him, saying that when he got better, I would definitely go home with him.

Timmy Brown: We could walk all the way home as we did before.

Timmy Brown: I could ask him to buy me some of that yogurt... just like before. But... now that's impossible...

You: ...

Marius: I think you and your brother are on the same page. Your regret is also his regret.

Marius: But there's no use regretting it now. Let's go and see what you wanna show us.

Timmy Brown: Yeah, I know. Let's go.

You: Marius, that was... well, don't you think you're being too harsh?

Marius: It was a little harsh, but it's the truth, and he has to learn to accept it.

Marius: Life is not always as smooth as we expect it to be... Sometimes you just have to learn to accept the truth.

You: ...

Marius looks at you. He raises his eyebrows and smiles slightly.

But you can tell the smile is not sincere and he is just pretending to be relaxed.

You feel like he is talking less about Timmy but more of himself...

A Brother's Gift (2/2)
Timmy Brown's House

Misc Location - Bedroom 1.png

Go to Timmy's house and begin the next investigation.

Timmy Brown: Marius, [Player]. Come on in. Make yourself at home. You don't have to change into slippers or anything.

Timmy's home is an extremely ordinary apartment. The inside of the house is filled with common household furnishings.

You take a look around and see that there is no one else in the house.

You: Timmy, aren't your mom and dad off work yet?

Timmy Brown: Well... They are very busy and usually come home pretty late.

Timmy Brown: Because of my brother's illness, my family owes a lot of money... Also, I need money to learn how to paint.

Timmy Brown: I mean... it's okay with me if I don't learn to paint... but they don't agree with me...

You: ...

You then realize that Timmy's initial resistance to drawing is not because he is rebellious like his parents think.

He just... He just hopes that the parents who have already lost one child will not have to work and worry about the other child.

Timmy Brown: Forget it. It's pointless to talk about this stuff.

Timmy Brown: You'd better come and see what I was talking about... Here it is, in the cabinet.

Timmy blinks hard, hiding the tears that nearly slip out of his eyes. He points to a drawer of the television cabinet.

Marius reaches up and gives it a tug. The drawer makes a slight clanging sound, but it doesn't open.

Marius: Is it locked?

Marius: It turns out that the "forest" refers to this drawer.

Timmy Brown: My brother's things are inside. He put them in there himself before he went to the hospital...

Timmy Brown: I remember asking him what he put inside.

Timmy Brown: Then he told me... He put things that were important to him in there.

Marius: You've never seen what's in the drawer?

Though it's a question, Marius uses a tone of near certainty.

If the young boy knew what was in the drawer, he wouldn't have acted so anxiously.

Timmy Brown: Mom and Dad couldn't find the key, and neither could I. So, I don't know what's inside.

Timmy Brown: Plus... I don't think Mom and Dad actually want to open the drawer.

Timmy Brown: After my brother was gone, they hid everything that reminded them of him, especially Mom... She gets sad whenever she sees his things...

Marius: So... Do you want to see it?

Timmy Brown: Yes.

Timmy nods his head vigorously.

Timmy Brown: I want to know why he designed these puzzles... I want to know what... what exactly he left for me.

Marius: Okay, then we'll open it.

Marius then calls a locksmith.

You don't know how the locksmith does it, but the drawer is open in no time.

After paying the locksmith and sending him away, Marius pats the cabinet and gestures to Timmy.

Marius: It is ready to be opened.

Timmy Brown: What... What's in it?

Marius: You can see for yourself. It's something your brother left you. So, I can't tell you.

Timmy Brown: ...Fine, I'll see it!

Timmy moves a step forward. Lowering his head, he glances cautiously into the drawer.

It's as if he is about to look at a grade on a final exam. He is anxious to look at it but he is afraid to know the truth.

His curiosity drives him forward. Timmy reaches out his hand and takes something out of the drawer.

Timmy Brown: It is... an album? And a letter!

Everyone can see the items clearly now.

There are only two items in the drawer— a thick photo album and a thin letter.

You: ...Is it a photo of you guys together when you were young?

The photos in the album range from old ones to newer ones, from a boy holding a baby in his arms to a laughing young man holding the hand of a boy in the park...

These numerous photos constitute the journey of the brothers' growth.

Timmy Brown: There is also a letter from my brother...

Timmy bites his lips hard as he clutches the letter. His eyes are already red.

Marius takes the crumpled piece of paper and starts to read it softly...

Marius: "My dear brother, I hope you are not sad."

Marius: "When I knew that my time was coming, I didn't have much fear, although I was a little upset..."

Marius: "I just couldn't let go of those days of joking around with you, of being together with Mom and Dad."

Marius: "I know you are brave. Stick to what you like, and you will eventually find your divine bird."

Marius: "Of course, I know you will miss me too. Don't cry. I will always be looking out for you."

Marius: "When you miss me, just try to draw. Draw everything you want to say to me, and I will see it."

Marius: "Love, your brother - Cyrus."

You: ...

At this moment, the secrets of the picture book are finally all unraveled.

Whatever that was hidden in the picture book... was not a mysterious message, but an elder brother's encouragement and blessing for his younger brother at the end of his life.

Timmy Brown: *Sobs*...

The young boy cannot hold back tears anymore and squats on the ground sobbing.

You don't know exactly how long he will cry, but you know that when he wipes his tears...

He will eventually get up again and walk on the path he's meant to walk.

This time, he will be less confused and he will find his own divine bird just like the young man in the picture book.

Marius' Concerns

The story about Timmy and his brother is indeed tear-jerking. Discuss what you're thinking with Marius.

After calming Timmy down and calling his parents to come back, you and Marius leave his house.

On the way back, Marius looks a bit somber.

Marius: ...

You: (...Is he upset about Cyrus Brown and Timmy? Or maybe he is thinking about himself...)

You: (What can I do to comfort him?)

You: Marius.

Marius: Hmm?

You: It's early. Where do you want to go next?

Marius: Anywhere. It's up to you.

You: Then... Let's find a quiet place. I have something to tell you.

Marius: ...

Marius: I have something to tell you too, so let's go back together.

Marius: Back to... my house.

Lovely Date
The von Hagen Estate

Return to the von Hagen Estate with Marius

By the time you get back to the von Hagen estate, it's almost evening.

The sun is still shining brightly, and the furniture in the room looks a little cozier in the warm yellow light.

Marius: Well, Miss, what do you want to say to me?

You: I'm just... I'm just a little worried about you.

You: When we came out of Timmy's house, I noticed that your expression was a bit off.

You: Are you worried about your brother again?

You sit down next to Marius and place your hand in his palm.

Marius nods and gently holds your hand in his. You can feel the warmth of his palm.

Marius: Well, seeing Timmy upset over his brother makes me... not feel so great.

Marius: My dad had a busy schedule and my brother had his own things to deal with.

Marius: When I was little, I was often left alone at home.

Marius: For a long time... I found myself slipping deeper and deeper into confusion and angst.

Marius: How should I put it...? I wasn't afraid, but I did worry that... no one cared about me.

As he dives into this heavy subject matter, his tone remains calm and normal.

It sounds as if he is talking about someone else's story, not his own.

Marius: Fortunately, though, my brother noticed that my mood was off. He guided me and taught me to comfort myself and develop my own goals and interests.

Marius: To Timmy, Cyrus Brown was his guide on the path of learning to draw.

Marius: My brother was also my guide... He...

There is no update about Giann von Hagen. It is unknown whether his brother is alive or dead—not to mention all the gossip.

You can imagine the anxiety buried deep in Marius' heart.

Marius: I am not some troubled little boy anymore.

Marius: I know what I want and... I, alone, am capable of solving my problems.

You: But you're not alone.

You turn your hand over and take him by the palm. You rub it gently to show him how much you care.

You: I'll always be with you.

Marius: True, I have you... I'm not alone anymore.

Marius: The most important thing in my life used to only be my family, but now I have so much more... I have you, my love.

The halo of light spilling into the room through the window illuminates Marius' eyes.

He finally smiles. The light in his eyes is bright... brighter than the sun.

Marius: [Player], I've got something for you. Wanna see?

He tilts his neck and rubs his forehead against the top of your head, expressing how important you are to him.

When he does this, it makes you helpless to refuse.

You: Okay.

Marius takes your hand and leads you to the bookshelf. He gently presses your shoulders to sit you down.

You: What is it? You look so secretive.

Marius: You have to be a little patient in life to enjoy surprises.

Marius stands in front of the bookshelf, blocking your view with his body. He then fumbles around on the shelf.

You: Just so you know, if it's some kind of trick, I refuse to accept it.

Marius: It's not. I promise.

His reply makes you even more curious. You can't help but crane your neck to look.

Marius holds back his laughter and speeds up his movement. A few seconds later...

Marius: ...Got it!

He grabs something and hands it to you.

Marius: Here, a present for you.

You: ...Is it a book?

An object that looks like a hardcover book falls into your hand. It's a booklet with a vellum cover.

Marius: Didn't you say that you wanted to read my picture book?

Marius: This is it.

You: What?

You remember, now. You once said something like that to change the subject.

Marius sounded like he was joking at the time. You never thought...

Marius: Open it and see if you like it.

Marius comes to your side and looks at you with anticipation.

His drawings... What kind of story will his drawings tell?

Your curiosity is aroused. You open the picture book... and yet...

You: Marius!!! It's blank!

You flip through it several times, but the pages in the picture book are all empty.

There isn't a speck of dust on it, not to mention any drawing inside. It's perfectly clean and spotless.

As surprise sets in, Marius wraps his arms around you from behind and pulls you into his embrace.

Marius: ...

You: You are... teasing me again.

Marius: No, I'm serious...

He whispers in your ear, the warmth of his breath accompanying his soft voice.

Your whole body feels like it's slowly being submerged in warm water.

You: I don't see how this could be serious.

Marius: Well, this picture book is called "Our Future."

You: Future...

Marius: The future is unknown and blank.

Marius: I want to fill it out slowly with you... What do you say?

You: I'm...

His warm breath brushes past your ear—your heart is pounding.

Marius: Miss, I'm waiting for your answer.

The future he is talking about is one he shares with you... It belongs to both of you...

You: O-okay.

Marius: What is it? I can't hear you.

He leans closer on purpose. His lips are pressed against your ear.

A current of electricity spreads from your ear throughout your whole body, making you forget how to move or speak.

You: Marius!

Marius: Hmm?

Darn it. Why is he teasing you at a time like this!?

You: ...I said okay!

Marius: Cool, so it's a deal.

Marius wraps you completely in his arms from behind.

Marius: Let's fill every page, on every day.... And we'll be together forever.

You: Yes, I'll be with you forever.

In the final chapter of Blurry Days and Nights, the young man finally finds his divine bird.

It is hope for the future, that the man draws with his pen.

There are no miracles or flukes in the world. There is only the perseverance and protection of the one who holds your hand.

Just like it is between you and him.
