Head back to the showroom and talk to the doctor.

You return to the exhibition to find Dr. Miller arranging an ore ornament.

You: Dr. Miller!

Hearing your greeting, Dr. Miller turns around to greet everyone.

Dr. Miller: Hello, everyone. It was unfortunate that our conversation got cut short by the embarkation ceremony...

Dr. Miller: Are you here to learn about the ore magnetic fields?

At the mention of ore magnetic fields, Dr. Miller's eyes seem to light up.

His expectant look piques your curiosity.

You: Yeah, I'm interested in learning about them.

Dr. Miller: Haha, brilliant! I'll introduce them to you then.

Dr. Miller notes that "electronic devices can change the ore magnetic field..." then continues.

He gets even more excited when he talks about using the environment to combine theory with research.

Dr. Miller: As mentioned before, the focus of my current research is the influence of ore magnetic field on the environment and the human body.

Dr. Miller: And for the research to be accurate, you would need a lot of the same kind of ore...

Dr. Miller: What better place than the Mobius, the train decorated with Bakerlon crystals?

You: Of course, if it weren't for Kahn Corporation, I would never dream of seeing so many precious crystals...

Vyn: It seems like you have decided on Bakerlon crystals as your primary research topic, Dr. Miller.

Dr. Miller: You're right.

Vyn: And I heard that other than using decorations with Bakerlon crystals...

Vyn: The carriages for the Mobius have been in use since one hundred years ago. They have only been modified slightly.

Vyn: After so many years in contact with the crystals, the train itself must have some special characteristics, making it a suitable testing ground for Bakerlon crystal research.

Dr. Miller: Haha, you are well-informed. That's exactly what I thought.

Dr. Miller gives Vyn an approving look, then pauses slightly, a look of embarrassment on his face.

Dr. Miller: But that's why I have a small request...

You: Eh?

Dr. Miller: Although I'm not supposed to bother passengers...

Dr. Miller: But given your interest in ore research, I'm hoping that you can help me from time to time while you're on the train.

Dr. Miller: After all, with so many crystals to study, I wouldn't mind having a helping hand.

Dr. Miller: Just like how pineapple pies won't be good without white sesame seeds, right?

You: ...

Before any of you can respond, Dr. Miller hastily says something else.

Dr. Miller: Don't worry, if you are all willing to help... I'll prepare the necessary compensation.

Dr. Miller: It's not the Bakerlon way to make people work for nothing.

You: I run errands all the time. It's not about the compensation.

You: It's just... I'm worried about the research...

Artem: What [Player] is concerned about is whether we can even be of assistance.

You: Yeah, what Mr. Wing said.

Dr. Miller: ...

Dr. Miller: Haha, that won't be an issue. A little background and history on the crystals will suffice.

Dr. Miller: After all, you need to know your topic before you do research on it.

Dr. Miller: Of course, if I need any help outside the experiment, I hope that...

Before Dr. Miller can finish, you understand what he means. In the spirit of helping people to the end... you nod in agreement.

You: Understood. I can help with that.

Hearing you agree, Dr. Miller's eyebrows relax, satisfied with the result.

Dr. Miller then looks at the ornaments beside him again, and a meaningful look crosses his face.

Dr. Miller: I'm sure that wonderful things will happen in your exploration, and perhaps, you may even discover some unknown secrets.

You: (...It suddenly feels like occultism.)

Dr. Miller smiles, stroking his chin.

Dr. Miller: I'm already looking forward to what I'll find on the train.

Dr. Miller: Well, that's all for now. I should get back to work.

Dr. Miller steps aside and continues his work sorting out the ore ornaments.

Looking at his back, you can't help feeling that Dr. Miller is really devoted to his research.

You: I wonder if it will be as Dr. Miller said, that we'll uncover secrets on this train...

Artem: Whatever the case may be, call me if you need help.

Artem: Although we won't be together all the time on the train, I'm happy to help you if you need me.

At this time, Artem, who is standing beside you, looks at you seriously.

You: Okay, thank you, Mr. Wing.

Vyn: If time permits, I can also help.

Marius: Hey you guys, one by one...

Marius: [Player], I'm free any time. I'll come running if you need me.

Luke: And, of course, that includes me.

You: ...

The four of them have their gazes fixated on you, which makes the atmosphere feel delicate.

Why does it feel like NXX is a little "too united" all of a sudden?

You: All right... In any case, I'll come find you guys if I need help!

Hearing your response, they all nod in agreement.

And the Bakerlon crystal near the windowsill shines in the sunlight with a distinctive shimmer...

Exhibition Room: Crystal Research (2)

Explain the current situation to Dr. Miller.

(Requires completion of Room R2 scan)

You: Dr. Miller!

Dr. Miller: Miss [Player]. Seeing how happy you are, there must be something worth celebrating.

You: I just feel like I've learned about the history of Bakerlon crystals.

You: Perhaps... at my current level, I can help you with the research to come.

You: Of course. I'm thankful for all the help you have provided.

Hearing your words, there is a gleam of surprise and appreciation in Dr. Miller's eyes.

Dr. Miller: I'm very happy to hear that from you.

Dr. Miller: But before I tell you what I'm going to do, I need to ask you a few quick questions to make sure you're knowledgeable about Bakerlon crystals.

You: Ask away. I'm confident in myself!

After about fifteen minutes of questioning, Dr. Miller nods his head in contentment.

Dr. Miller: Very well, Miss [Player]. You are much more knowledgeable than I expected.

Dr. Miller: Next...

With that, Dr. Miller's expression becomes serious.

Dr. Miller: I think you are aware of the strange phenomena happening on the train...

You: Strange phenomena... You mean the shadows?

You remember what the other passengers said they saw, as well as the ones you saw... And you feel your palms grow cold.

Dr. Miller: Yes, we need to do more research on this phenomenon.

Dr. Miller: I suspect that the phenomenon was caused by the magnetic field of Bakerlon crystals, but I need a practical plan to prove it.

You: We thought of the same thing after you mentioned the ore magnetic fields...

Dr. Miller: Yes. Overall, that's the most likely explanation.

Dr. Miller continues after a slight pause.

Dr. Miller: Anyway, I may need to trouble you with things related to these phenomena in the future.

Dr. Miller: Of course, I may require your assistance with other matters, which I hope you won't refuse.

You: No problem, you can just find me if you need anything.

You: Besides, you're going to give me a gift return, so I'm not really working for free.

Dr. Miller: Haha, you are right.

Exhibition Room: Crystal Research (3)

Dr. Miller has something to say to you. Go find him.

(Requires completion of Room R3 scan)

You: Dr. Miller, were you looking for me?

Dr. Miller: Yes, I have a matter to discuss with you.

You: Judging by your relaxed expression, has there been new progress in the research?

Dr. Miller smiles, then nods calmly.

Dr. Miller: Yes, after extensive comparative analysis and many experimental results...

Dr. Miller: It is now certain that both the shadows and the other anomalies on the train were caused by the magnetic fields created by Bakerlon crystals.

Dr. Miller: Of course, phenomena without human involvement can also be called "natural magnetic field phenomena," which corresponds to the "natural magnetic field."

You: Honestly, this doesn't sound surprising at all...

You: Regardless, it's great to finally pinpoint the cause.

Dr. Miller: Yes, we can relax a little now.

You: Now then, what do we do next?

Hearing your question, Dr. Miller pauses for a moment.

Dr. Miller: The next step is to take a closer look at what's happening on the train...

Dr. Miller: While we know that Bakerlon crystals can cause strange phenomena, we don't know exactly what factors affect them.

Dr. Miller: These factors might include the crystals' specific locations, or their properties, such as purity, transmittance, and so on. We also have to consider the external factors...

Dr. Miller: These are all things that we have yet to figure out.

Just then, you remember what Dr. Miller said at the beginning — it is theoretically possible for an electronic device to change the ore magnetic field...

You: That's true. There is much more we need to research.

Dr. Miller: So the next objective is to focus on the Bakerlon crystals that are available to us.

Dr. Miller: We must understand their unique properties. After all, every crystal is unique, and their material properties are also different.

Dr. Miller: Furthermore, there may be external factors that affect the crystals...

You: Understood!

Dr. Miller: Just like before, I may require your aid in other situations.

You: Sure thing.

You: (Is there anyone else on this train more enthusiastic than me...?)

Exhibition Room: Crystal Research (4)

It seems the research has made significant progress. Talk to Dr. Miller.

(Requires completion of Room R4 scan)

Dr. Miller: Miss [Player], you're right on time.

You: I certainly can't be late when you request my assistance, Dr. Miller.

You: You seem to be in a good mood. Have you reached a conclusion in the further research on the phenomena?

Dr. Miller: Haha, nothing gets by you, Miss [Player].

Dr. Miller: Indeed, our research has yielded some results, thanks to your help.

You: I didn't really do anything. Most of the experiments and data collection were done by you...

Dr. Miller: You don't need to be so modest, Miss [Player]. Nor do we need to be so polite with each other. Let's get on with the conclusions.

You: All right.

Dr. Miller pauses for a moment, then continues.

Dr. Miller: After extensive data analysis and many experimental results...

Dr. Miller: There are several factors that affect the phenomena on the train, including but not limited to whether the phenomena appear, their duration, and their type...

Dr. Miller spends an hour explaining everything to you in great detail...

You: (I tried very hard to listen, but I could only understand the "location of the crystals" and "the use of electronic devices"...)

You: (And the explanations for some causes...)

You: (Oh well, I guess it's fine as long as Dr. Miller understands.)

You: Now that we know the factors... What should we do next?

Hearing your question, Dr. Miller raises his eyebrows.

Dr. Miller: Next comes the practical part.

You: Eh?

Dr. Miller: What we did before can simply be understood as testing a theory...

Dr. Miller: Causing the phenomena to appear was also part of the verification process.

Dr. Miller: Now, we're going to put the theory into practice...

You: Let me think... That means...

You: We need to ascertain what factors affect the phenomena on the train...

You: That will allow us to adjust these factors to achieve the effect we want?

You: Wait! Doesn't that mean we can get rid of all the phenomena?

At this point, Dr. Miller smiles slightly.

Dr. Miller: From a purely theoretical standpoint, yes.

Dr. Miller: In any case, we will be adjusting these factors.

You: Sure!

For some reason, your confidence swells as you listen to Dr. Miller.

Dr. Miller: As usual, I hope you can help me out whenever I need assistance in my research.

You: I'll be glad to help out if there are any other situations...

Before Dr. Miller can finish, you finish his thought without missing a beat.

Dr. Miller is taken aback, but then bursts out laughing.

Dr. Miller: Haha, yes, yes, the Bakerlons are no match for you when it comes to enthusiasm.

Guestroom R1: Crystal Research (5)

This is where the search for the truth ends.

(Requires completion of Room R1 scan)

You: And with that, I suppose our research into the Bakerlon crystals... has come to an end.

Luke: I think so, considering how long it took us to finally get to the story.

Marius: I don't think Dr. Miller is going to ask you for any more help at this point. Because... that would be rude.

You: Don't say that...

You: I'm happy to help.

Artem: Without Dr. Miller, we wouldn't have figured out the story on our own.

Vyn: Dr. Miller is the cause and a bridge... I suddenly understand what he meant by "soul resonance."

You: Oh? That sounds a bit like "occultism" as well, Dr. Richter.

Vyn: Just how I personally feel. Speaking of which, are you going to see Dr. Miller later?

You: Yeah, I should tell Dr. Miller the story that we uncovered.

Before Vyn can react, Marius takes over the conversation.

Marius: Then I'll head to the bar and order some nice non-alcoholic drinks to our room, so you can celebrate when you get back.

You: All right.

Artem: I'll communicate with the crew members and see if there's anything available for dinner.

Artem: Everyone must be hungry.

Vyn: Yes, then I will... head back to our room and put on some soothing and relaxing aromatherapy to remove our fatigue.

You: Then, Luke, will you accompany me to find Dr. Miller?

With that, everyone looks at Luke.

Luke: Of course...

Marius: Of course, you should inform the crew members about the carriages, right? So they can be prepared?

Luke: Marius, you...

Vyn: I agree that you should inform the crew members.

On this rare occasion, Vyn echoes Marius' words.

At this moment, Luke looks to Artem, waiting for his opinion.

Artem: I also think...

Artem: That's the right course of action.

Luke: ...

Luke: Fine, I'll go inform the crew members. We can meet back at our room.

You: All right.

Exhibition Room: Crystal Research (6)

Tell the doctor the truth you've uncovered.

You: Dr. Miller, you're still here... Great!

Dr. Miller: What is it, Miss [Player]?

You: Dr. Miller, didn't you give me a scanner so that I could look around...

You: I used the crystal that you gave me, combined with this device, to do some research on the train.

Hearing this, the doctor is taken aback. He then gives you a look of approval.

Dr. Miller: I see...

Dr. Miller: It appears that you've succeeded in constructing artificially stable ore magnetic fields.

You: Well, as with the previous experiments done on the train, a phenomenon appeared as well...

You spend some time with Dr. Miller talking about the whole process.

You also briefly tell him about the Kahn family a hundred years ago.

After listening to your explanation, Dr. Miller strokes his beard and shakes his head before nodding thoughtfully.

Dr. Miller: A hundred years ago... ore disease... a coverup...

Dr. Miller: I didn't expect the secret you would find... to be this...

Dr. Miller: Kahn Corporation was always courteous when we talked about working together. This comes as a shock to me... Well, you never know what's going to happen.

Dr. Miller casts his eyes downward as he speaks, looking somewhat sad. But moments later, his usual expression returns.

Dr. Miller: In any case, thank you for your help, Miss [Player]. Your friends as well.

Dr. Miller: Thanks to you, my research was completed without a hitch... and... I even learned of a secret.

Dr. Miller: Thinking about it, I have nothing to give you. The crystal I gave you was used in the research... I feel bad about it.

Dr. Miller: How about this, Miss [Player]? You can keep the scanner. Consider it a token of my appreciation.

You: Eh? But Dr. Miller, didn't you spend years creating it? It wouldn't be right for me to take it.

Dr. Miller: Hahaha, it's the least I can do. You have done more for me than a single object can offer, Miss [Player].

Dr. Miller: And when the train arrives at the destination, I'll be sure to treat you all to a Bakerlon meal.

Unable to refuse, you gladly accept the doctor's offer.

You: In that case, thank you, Dr. Miller! I'm looking forward to trying some Bakerlon delicacies!

Dr. Miller: You will love the pineapple pie with white sesame seeds.

Dr. Miller: Well, it's getting late, and you should get some rest. I need to get back and make notes on what you just told me.

You: I'll get going then. Goodbye, Dr. Miller!
