Exhibition Room
Chat with the doctor. You might discover something new.
Dr. Miller: Miss [Player], have you noticed that parts of the train are colder at night than others?
Dr. Miller: For example, in the exhibition, or the corridors...
You: Now that you mention it, a little...
You: Whenever the strange shadows appear, it does feel chilly.
Dr. Miller: Hmm... I see.
Dr. Miller: Miss [Player], can you please place two Bakerlon crystals at the designated locations? I want to test a theory.
You: All right.
Dr. Miller: Yes, please place the small piece by the couch in the dining carriage...
Dr. Miller: Then the large one goes below the window in the corridor of the luxury carriage.
You: Sure... Let me jot that down. Anything else I should be aware of, Dr. Miller?
Dr. Miller: If you are free, wait a while by the large Bakerlon crystal to see if anything strange happens.
You: All right.
Food Truck
Place a small Bakerlon crystal in the dining carriage.
At the dining carriage, you look around for a suitable place for the Bakerlon crystal when you spot Marius unexpectedly.
You: Marius?
Marius: [Player], you...
Marius quickly puts down the tablet in his hand and walks over to take the Bakerlon crystal from you.
Marius: ...It's heavy, Miss. Are you working for Dr. Miller?
You: Dr. Miller has a general theory about the strange things happening on the train, so he asked me to help verify it.
Marius: Verify a theory?
You briefly outline your reasoning to Marius.
Marius: I see... So you're going to explore the train by yourself, and you might encounter strange phenomena?
You: Possibly, but I've already encountered it several times so it shouldn't be a problem.
You: Yeah... I'll put the small piece in the corner by the couch, where passengers won't accidentally move it.
You peer into the gap between the couches and choose a corner to place the small piece of Bakerlon crystal.
Marius: I'll help you with the large crystal.
Marius: It's much safer if we investigate an unknown phenomenon together, right?
You: I guess you're right. Let's go then.
Corridor of the Luxury Suites
Place a large Bakerlon crystal in the corridor of the luxury carriage.
Marius: Is this the corridor? Which window should we put it under?
You: This one should be good. The doctor asked me to keep it far away from the Bakerlon crystal ornament.
Marius: Okay, I'm putting it under the curtain.
Marius chooses a spot under the curtains in the shade, which obscures the crystal slightly.
After more than ten minutes of waiting, the corridor is empty and silent as usual.
Marius: Nothing seems out of the ordinary.
You: Yeah... why don't we look around?
Marius: Yeah, maybe the so-called anomaly could show up elsewhere.
Walk around the corridor and check for anomalies.
Marius: Look over there!
You: It really is an anomaly.
Not far from the Bakerlon crystal you had just placed, a white shadow floats beside a crystal.
???: ...Goo?
Marius: You... can talk?
???: Boo.
???: Miss...
You: Is it calling out to me?
Marius: It can't be copying me, right!?
???: Ugh... boo...
???: ...
Marius: Hey, it's not making a sound anymore?
You: Strange, it didn't appear where I placed the stone, but somewhere else in the same space...
You: How does that work?
Marius: Could it have something to do with the magnetic field of Bakerlon crystals? Maybe something went wrong with its original structure when you added a crystal?
You: Right! That might be possible. I'll inform Dr. Miller of our discovery.
Marius: Sure, let me know if you need help moving crystals again.
You: Thank you.
Tell the doctor about everything that just happened.
Dr. Miller: You're back, Miss [Player]. What did you find?
You: Actually...
You explain what happened in the corridor to Dr. Miller.
He does not speak but strokes his beard with a thoughtful expression.
Dr. Miller: It fits my theory, but not entirely...
You: Yeah... When I placed the crystal, a shadow did appear.
You: But strangely, the shadow didn't appear where I placed the stone, but somewhere else in the same space.
You: Since we speculated that the phenomenon might be caused by the Bakerlon crystal magnetic field...
You: So I was wondering if it's possible for the original magnetic field to change after adding two more crystals...
You: And that's what led to the subsequent anomalies?
Dr. Miller: Although I'm leaning toward your theory, today's experiment is not enough to draw that conclusion...
Dr. Miller: We should avoid generalized treatment of special cases while researching.
You: You're right... It would be bad if this was an outlier case.
After taking a deep breath, you collect yourself and look at the doctor again.
You: Dr. Miller, please let me know if you need help in the future.
Dr. Miller: Sure, I'll need to make preparations for future research. Please take a break in the meantime, Miss [Player].
You: All right.
You: (...I'll come back in a few days and see if Dr. Miller needs my help.)
You: (Hey, when did I start getting used to helping others...?)
You: (Did it start in my childhood?)
