The doctor wants to talk to you about the crystals on the train.

Walking toward the exhibition entrance, you happen to spot Luke looking at one of the ore exhibits.

You tap on his shoulder. Luke seems surprised to see you, then smiles.

You: Luke, are you here for the exhibition?

Luke: Yeah, it feels refreshing to look at these crystals.

You: Well, in that case... do you want to hear Dr. Miller talk about the crystals?

Luke: Eh?

You tell Luke everything that just happened.

Luke: Count me in. I'm sure Dr. Miller would be happy that another "student" is joining.

You: Okay! With you here, I'm not worried about Dr. Miller's questions!

Exhibition Room: Crystals in the Showroom (2)

Listen to the doctor introduce the crystals in the showroom.

You: Dr. Miller, I brought a friend with me.

Luke: Hello, Dr. Miller.

Dr. Miller nods his head with satisfaction, looking pleased.

Dr. Miller: Very well. Let's begin with the two Bakerlon crystals by the window.

Dr. Miller: In the subcategories of Bakerlon crystals, they are classified as White Bakerlon Crystals. They are further categorized by their purity and size.

Dr. Miller: The base diameter of the crystal on the left is 10cm, but the one on the right is 25cm.

Dr. Miller: They were put together at the entrance for two reasons. First, for comparison...

Dr. Miller: Second, because the white crystals were the first to be discovered. Their placement here represents the beginning.

You: I see. I also heard that researcher mention the white crystals were the first to be discovered.

You: I didn't expect this fact to be used in the exhibition...

Luke: This is the first time I'm learning about it too.

Dr. Miller then introduces other distinctive Bakerlon crystals...

Each one is introduced one by one in great detail.

Dr. Miller: Well, it's time for a break to refresh your mind.

You: After hearing so much information, my mind does seem to be all over the place.

Luke: Since this is similar to "listening to a lecture," your brain naturally can't process all the information.

Dr. Miller: Haha, that's why breaks are necessary.

Dr. Miller: Let me test your observational skills. How many people are in the exhibition?

Right answer (5)

You: When I focus my attention on something else, my mind feels clearer.

Luke: Me too.

Dr. Miller: Let's continue our discussion then.

Dr. Miller pauses for a moment, then points at the pink crystal in a glass display.

Dr. Miller: This one is called a druse, which is just a cluster of crystals, and the weak magnetic field is stronger in the druse.

Dr. Miller: Similarly, it will produce a powerful force of attraction with other crystals.

Dr. Miller: Miss [Player], you asked me before why strange phenomena are rare in the exhibition when there are so many crystals.

Dr. Miller: After careful analysis and research, I found that it is mainly due to these large crystal druses.

You: ...

Luke: ...

You and Luke are silent for a moment, trying hard to process what Dr. Miller just said.

After a while, Luke looks up and seems to understand.

Luke: Are you saying the large druses are too "powerful" for natural magnetic fields to form...?

Luke: So that's why the strange phenomena don't appear in the exhibition?

You: (With Luke's explanation, you seem to understand the situation.)

Dr. Miller nods, looking at Luke with admiration.

Dr. Miller: You did a good job of summarizing. It's primarily because of the crystal druses, but there are other complicated variables...

Dr. Miller: Well, I won't go into detail about that, or we'll run out of time.

Dr. Miller: It's time to take a break and rest our minds.

You: Are you going to ask another question?

Wrong answer

You: Eh? I counted wrong...

Luke: Let's take another look.

You: Sure!

Dr. Miller: This time, I'll ask a simple question, so take it easy.

Luke: No problem. We're ready.

Dr. Miller: This time, I want to ask... how many red or pinkish-red ores are there in the exhibition?

Right answer (3)

You: The question wasn't too difficult this time.

Luke: Yeah, it's feeling more and more like a "recess."

Dr. Miller: Haha, that's the intended effect.

Dr. Miller: Good answer. It looks like you guys have had enough rest. Let's continue.

Dr. Miller leads you and Luke around the exhibition.

Dr. Miller: Placed at the end are crystals that are inferior in quality to those near the entrance.

Dr. Miller: But they are much more exquisite in terms of their molding craftsmanship.

You: So the better crystals are like jewelry, display at the entrance to attract guests?

Dr. Miller: Precisely. And the crystals at the back are more about showcasing the molding craftsmanship.

Dr. Miller: Take this piece, for example. It has undergone the polishing process 38 times.

You: That's a lot...

Dr. Miller: Yes. As such, its light transmittance has deviated slightly, by a total of 0.3 units.

You: Compared with raw stones, the properties of polished and cut crystals will change.

Dr. Miller: Very good.

Dr. Miller: And we will regularly change the crystals' position or even the crystals themselves, to ensure that passengers will get a different experience with every visit.

Luke: Now that you say that, the crystals do appear to be different from the ones I saw a few days ago.

You: If they tend to change the batches...

You: Is that one of the reasons why phenomena don't really appear in the exhibition?

You: Because changing their locations from time to time... might also affect the magnetic field...?

Before you can finish, Dr. Miller nods, the smile deepening on his face.

Dr. Miller: I was thinking the same thing, Miss [Player]. I even considered whether the polishing technology has an effect on the interaction between crystals...

Dr. Miller: But I don't have enough data on it yet...

Dr. Miller: Strictly speaking, this is just speculation.

Dr. Miller: All right, let's take a break before I explain the rest of the crystals.

Dr. Miller: There's much more I want to say, so you guys better pay attention.

You: Sure!

Wrong answer

You: Did I count wrong?

Luke: Don't get dejected. Let's take another look.

Dr. Miller looks around the exhibition and strokes his chin in thought.

Dr. Miller: I already know what question I'm going to ask.

You: It suddenly feels like class is ending.

Dr. Miller: Haha, listen up—how many single-case displays are there in the exhibition?

Luke: Single-case displays?

Dr. Miller: A freestanding display case with just one piece of ore on it.

You: Understood!

Right answer (6)

Dr. Miller: Good answer. It seems you guys are ready to go, so I'll begin introducing the rest of the crystals.

Dr. Miller: Now I'm going to talk about the Bakerlon crystals on this side of the wall.

Dr. Miller: As you can see, the crystal colors are unique. In addition to the four main color categories, there are also green and orange...

Dr. Miller: These Bakerlon crystals were artificially created, so...

Dr. Miller spends a long time explaining the production process of Artificial Bakerlon Crystals...

You can't help but yawn when Dr. Miller talks about how Artificial Bakerlon Crystals don't have any weak magnetic field.

Dr. Miller: Ahh, my apologies. I've forgotten to look at the time... We seem to have gone off-topic.

Luke: No worries. Artificial Bakerlon Crystals are interesting as well.

Luke: Except we might have to save the details for next time.

You: Yeah, the "lecture" has gone on for quite a while.

Dr. Miller strokes his beard, then smiles in embarrassment.

Dr. Miller: That should do it then.

Dr. Miller: Feel free to take a look around the exhibition. I have other matters to attend to.

You: Goodbye, Dr. Miller.

Wrong answer

You: Did I miscount...?

Luke: Let's take another look.

You: All right.

After Dr. Miller walks away, Luke winks at you.

Luke: Tired? Want to find a place to rest?

You: Now that you mention, I'm pretty hungry...

Luke: Hahaha, let's go to the dining carriage for a special surprise set meal!

You: Sure, ahh.... wait, I have a question I want to confirm with Dr. Miller. Can you go get us a table first?

Luke: Sure! I'll go to the dining carriage and order first.

You: All right.

Exhibition Room: Crystals in the Showroom (3)

Ask the doctor about the questions in your mind.

Dr. Miller: Miss [Player], you're still here? You looked exhausted earlier.

You: I still have one small question to ask you, Dr. Miller.

Dr. Miller: Oh? Were my introductions unclear?

You: It's about the Artificial Bakerlon Crystals...

You: As you mentioned, Artificial Bakerlon Crystals don't have weak magnetic fields...

You: But why is that the case when they're made from the same substance as Bakerlon crystals?

Dr. Miller: Haha, so that's what you were wondering about.

Dr. Miller: I mentioned this when I was talking about the production process of Artificial Bakerlon Crystals. I will briefly explain it to you again.

Dr. Miller: Artificial Bakerlon Crystals are man-made minerals created to resemble Bakerlon crystals. Its elemental composition is not the same as Bakerlon crystals.

Dr. Miller: But its appearance and other characteristics are consistent with those of Bakerlon crystals...

Dr. Miller: And the cost of creating Artificial Bakerlon Crystals is not cheap either.

You: I see...

You: So why would they need to create artificial crystals when there are natural Bakerlon crystals?

Hearing your question, Dr. Miller smiles deeply.

Dr. Miller: To allow the rich to choose colors according to their preferences and to compensate for the reduced amount of natural Bakerlon crystals...

Dr. Miller: These... are all possible reasons.

Dr. Miller: Humans like to apply technology to strange things, don't they?

You: I guess that's true.

You: (For some reason, Dr. Miller seems mysterious...)

Dr. Miller: I'm glad you understand, Miss [Player].

Dr. Miller: Artificial Bakerlon Crystals will only appear in the exhibition. If you're interested, we can talk more about them next time.

You: All right.

You: (I ended up talking to Dr. Miller for a while... Luke must be worried, so I should head over quickly.)

Experience with Luke the special set menu that Mobius has to offer!

You: Sorry, I'm late. The questions just came pouring out of me...

Luke: It's okay, you're right on time. Look... they're about to serve the food.

Following the direction Luke indicated, you see a crew member on the other side of the dining carriage carrying dishes toward your table.

Before the crew member arrives, you can already smell the delicious aroma.

You: It smells great. What did you order, Luke?

Luke: Actually, I don't know either.

You: Eh?

Luke: The crew member said the special surprise set meal changes every day based on the chef's mood and the available ingredients!

You: Wait, then the dishes... are completely random!?

Luke: Haha, yeah. The crew member offered me a few recommendations and said it would be worth the challenge!

You: (So that's what a surprise set meal is...)
