Ask the doctor about the crystals again.

Dr. Miller: Miss [Player], I saw you staring at this piece of Bakerlon crystal for a while...

Dr. Miller: Is there something wrong?

You: Not with the crystal...

You: It was only after learning that the crystals may be responsible for the strange phenomena that I began to notice them.

You: You instructed me to study the unique properties of the crystals on the train.

You: But... no matter how much a layman like me studies, I can only scratch the surface.

Dr. Miller: Don't say that, Miss [Player]. Compared to the other passengers, you're not a layman.

Dr. Miller: Unfortunately, there are two important visitors coming later, and I need to be the one to receive them. Otherwise...

Suddenly, Dr. Miller seems to think of something.

Dr. Miller: Oh, by the way, there is a woman who frequently visits my lectures.

Dr. Miller: She is an avid ore lover, spending every day looking at the ores on the train and taking notes.

Dr. Miller: You may find it useful to follow her and tag along.

You: Sure. Should I go find her now?

Dr. Miller: Yeah... but that might be difficult.

Dr. Miller: She doesn't like to be disturbed when she is studying ores.

Dr. Miller: So don't disturb her, Miss [Player]. I would advise you to follow and observe quietly.

You: Understood. I'll do my best not to disturb her.

You: But where is that woman now?

Dr. Miller smiles, pointing at a woman taking notes on a piece of Bakerlon crystal near the exhibition entrance.

Dr. Miller: She's right there.

You: Okay, I'll take a look.

Exhibition Room: Crystal Craze (2)

Follow Ore Enthusiast and observe with him.

As you walk toward the exhibition entrance, you happen upon a familiar figure...

You: Mr. Wing? Are you here for the exhibition?

Artem: Yes, I want to understand more about Bakerlon crystals.

Artem: What about you? You seem to be in a rush. Did something urgent happen?

You: Actually...

You tell Artem what Dr. Miller just said to you.

Artem: I see.

Artem: I will get a cup of coffee after a tour of the exhibition. If you get tired, come find me in the dining carriage.

Artem: Of course, feel free to come by whenever you need help.

You: Thank you, Mr. Wing!

[Begin Observation Event]

Enthusiast: The refraction index of this crystal doesn't seem to be high.

Enthusiast: I would advise the doctor to raise the base a bit higher if possible.

Enthusiast: The spacing between these two together is too small...

Passenger: Lady, shall I make room for you?

Passenger: You seem to be recording something.

Enthusiast: N-N-No, dear God!

Passenger: Um... did I say something wrong?

Enthusiast: The translucency of the crystal decorations here isn't bad.

Enthusiast: It's not as good as the quality of the crystals in the showroom...

Enthusiast: But it's comparable to the regular ones that appear in magazines.

Enthusiast: I recall there was a pink crystal in the showroom that was quite unique...

Enthusiast: Is it because it was placed beside other crystals?

Enthusiast: The distance between the crystals... is worth researching.

Attendant: Miss, would you like something to drink?

Attendant: Or perhaps some reading material on the crystals?

Enthusiast: No... bye!

Attendant: ...Eh!?

[End Observation Event]

You: The distance between crystals... I should ask Dr. Miller about this.

After learning more about the crystals, talk to the doctor.

You: I'm back, Dr. Miller.

Dr. Miller: Miss [Player], perfect timing. I'm just about done here.

Dr. Miller: How is it going? Did you learn anything?

You: I followed that woman as she admired various Bakerlon crystals, and learned a lot.

You: And then I was thinking... each piece of Bakerlon crystal has a different transmittance and refractive index...

You: And the distance between the crystals seems to affect these indexes...

You: Could... these factors be responsible for the strange phenomena that appear at night?

Dr. Miller smiles mysteriously.

Dr. Miller: Indeed, that's a possibility, especially the distance between crystals...

Dr. Miller: But I need a little more time for a detailed experimental analysis.

Dr. Miller: After all, it takes a lot of time to check every single element.

You: Understood. I'll come back in a few days.
