Luke "Shape of You"/Rewards

Story Summary

This story takes place in Year 1. Luke is not yet in a relationship with the MC.

Luke invites the main character to the annual Starry Light Show. Due to an unpleasant memory of Luke getting lost the last time they went during their childhood, the MC has avoided the festival ever since, and Luke wants to make up for that occasion. She asks questions about why he disappeared that day as they explore.

Luke and the MC play a festival attraction: a game of ring toss using geese's necks as the targets. A goose reacts badly and attacks Luke, who resolves the situation quickly after the goose changes target to the MC. For catching the goose, the shop owner offers Luke a prize; he selects a handmade comb and gives it to the MC. The two recall a similar incident from their childhood.

At a candyman stall, Luke sculpts a sugar syrup figure in the shape of the MC. The two try to remember what Luke was searching for the day he disappeared; the stall owner suggests Luke might have been looking for the "Land God" hiding in the crowd behind a mask.

While visiting a mask shop together, Luke confirms that he was looking for the "Land God" to grant a wish that he isn't ready to speak of. A pickpocket steals the MC's phone, and Luke gives chase. After a while, the MC hears tourists commenting about a young man in distress not far away. The MC rushes toward the scene, full of unpleasant memories about Luke's previous disappearance.

Staff at the scene of the accident confirm that the injured young man was in an altercation with a middle-aged thief. The MC begins to rush to the hospital when she's stopped by Peanut, who leads her to an uninjured Luke. Luke apologizes for having been held up giving first aid to the injured man. He explains that the incident in the past was because he wanted to disappear due to relatives' gossip that he was taking the attention and love meant for MC.

The two watch the festival closing ceremony together, including fireworks and lanterns over Stellis River. Seeing that Luke made numerous river lanterns with blessings for her and none for himself, the MC borrows materials to write a blessing of her own, but Luke edits the blessing of health and happiness and won't let her see the revision before he releases it.

Luke: Sorry, I was feeding Peanut and couldn't reply you in time.

Luke: Me too. I really miss the taste of the candyman. The sugar that guy made tasted amazing.

Luke: You like it because I made it? Heh heh, you're saying that just to make me happy.

Luke: If you want some, I can borrow the equipment tomorrow and make you another one.

Luke: As for other kind of figurines... Well... You may have to wait. I need to practice first.

Luke: You knew I was never good at drawing. The teacher made fun of my paintings in class when we were small!

Luke: The candyman I made the other day for you was a success, only because I made it in your image.

Luke: When I was away, I thought about you often... and you just became deeply engraved in my mind over time.

Luke: You got me... I only knew how to make figurines of you and I wasn't about to share "you" with all those kids...

Luke: You mean when I was at the booth? Oh, I was only the cashier. The one I gave you was the first one I've ever made.

Luke: It's good that you liked it. I'm willing to try anything that you like.

Luke: How about we make a candyman family the next time? We'll make one of your father, your mother, you, and I!

Luke: Actually... I want to do more things together. I want to make even more memories with you.

Luke: I want to catch up on the eight years that we've lost.
