Artem "Eternal Yearning"/Rewards

Story Summary

While planning his confession and special gift for MC, Artem finds a photo souvenir of the wishing tags he and MC got from Cloudbreak Temple. This leads him to ask his mother, Kimberly Garner, about a memory he already forgot. Kimberly Garner shows Artem a photo of himself when he planted a red bean tree sapling as a kid. She tells him that Artem was quite into poems about red beans because he was curious of its symbolic meaning when he was a kid. After Artem won a poetry competition, she took him in the woodlands to plant a red bean tree. She suggests that Artem checks on that tree he planted years ago.

Artem drives to the forest plantation area where he planted his red bean tree. Red beans are known as classic tokens of affection, and he intends to get a few red beans from his tree, make something unique out of them, and give them as a gift to MC. Alongside a guide, he sets out to visit his tree, and finds that his tree is blooming. The guide remarks that Artem is lucky because it is rare for red bean trees to blossom and bear fruit each year. However, there are currently no beans yet. Artem says he can no longer wait for the red beans as he already wants to convey his feelings for MC. As Artem is leaving, the guide catches up on him and gives him a vial containing red beans that were collected from his tree from a previous year. As fate would have it, these red beans were collected during the year Artem met MC.

Artem invites MC to the amusement park. MC suspects a love confession, but is worried that she is not worthy of being with Artem. While participating in a plant maze activity, she unintentionally confesses that she feels she's not qualified to be alongside Artem. Artem takes MC's hand and reassures her that there is no qualification to be alongside him. He says that he also makes mistakes, but it is more important that they move forward. After the activity, Artem takes MC to a fountain performance he pre-arranged. He tells her that he chose the amusement park because he sensed that MC was down after how her latest case concluded. He proceeds to confess his feelings for her. They kiss. Afterwards, MC responds to his confession and promises that she will cherish him. Artem then gives his gift to her - a necklace with a red bean dice that Artem carved himself. It reminds MC of Cloudbreak Temple - "Like the red bean set into a dice, my yearning is etched into my very bones." He tells her of the red bean tree he planted and invites her to visit the tree with him once it bears fruit.
