Tambyani is a equatorial country in the Tears of Themis universe, home to the Imana Rainforest

Rail tours are particularly popular in Tambyani, billed as "the silk that connects pearls." Due to the state of the country's economy, the gap between rich and poor is considered excessive, leaving the poor willing to seek short-term gains at the cost of long-term effects through acts such as deforestation for farming land to grow whatever outsiders are interested in buying.

Due to the specific geography and economy depicted in the nation, it is suspected to roughly correspond to the real-world Democratic Republic of Congo.

Regions
Shanya
Shanya, a diverse city with residents and visitors of many colors and styles of dress, is described as "the heart of Tambyani" and is home to a large resort with many attractions. Some of these include an ecological park that allows tourists to catch a glimpse of what a deeper tour of the rainforest can offer, as well as an Indigenous Arts Museum. Outside the resort, an artificial beach, folk custom street, museum with a culture exhibit and ancient fossil display, and recreational business district are all recommended to tourists.

Amma Savanna
Amma Savanna is named for the god Amma. Residents of the area are said to be "born hospitable," welcoming guests with a special dance and allowing them to participate in their traditions, including a special class teaching visitors to weave grass and straw.

Kulu Mines
Although Kulu is the largest mine in Tambyani, working conditions there are poor and in violation of local labor laws, with managers deducting workers' pay with questionable cause. A recent conflict between the workers and managers has caused the local government to get involved with the mining operation, promising independent supervision and restoration of lost wages.

Laide River Canyon
Some attractions in the area include the Blossoms River Valley, with a stunning man-made flora display on either side of the river, and the Canyon of Lovers, which is known for its two-person canoeing experience. Specialty dishes of the area include Moissan Roast Chicken and Tilapia Bean Soup.

The Laide River is fed in part by the Kulu Bay River, which runs directly under the Kulu Mine.

Mangrove Forest
Situated between Shanya and Imana Rainforest, the mangrove forest is dense and expansive. Within the trees is a tourist park known simply as "Mangrove Park," where visitors can try activities such as canoeing and ziplining. Less active visitors may wander an Enchanted Trail, in which mangroves are specially shaped to give visitors the feeling of walking through a fairy tale world, or a Root Carving Art Museum, which also hosts a class in root carving on its first floor.

A local delicacy in the Mangrove Park is barbecued mangrove worms.

Imana Rainforest
Tambyani's government has reached an agreement with the Pax Group to set up a new tourism-centered rainforest nature reserve, with some area dedicated to sustainable tourism and ecological entertainment and other areas focused on protecting rare plants native to the rainforest.

The rainforest home to the parrot flower, a plant that was previously thought to be extinct with impressive potential to combat autoimmune conditions. However, this flower can easily be confused with the common parrot plant, which has caused conflict in the area when residents clear land to grow large fields of the plant expecting riches.

Napo Jungle
Napo Jungle

The indigenous village in the southern part of Napo Jungle is very welcoming to guests. One of their customs is to prepare a special sour drink for visitors; those who can finish it in one gulp are said to be recognized by the villagers' deities. Visitors may also participate in an autumn fishing festival with the villagers, who are especially proud of a roast pork dish made by wrapping meat in banana leaves and grilling over a charcoal fire. More adventurous tourists can try a unique ant sauce, said to taste of ginger and lemongrass.

Napo Jungle is the site of a Pax Group Bio-Research station cataloging flora in the jungle and experimenting on parrot flowers. Recently, local indigenous populations have agreed to help the research station cultivate the parrot flower on a larger scale using a combination of ancient and modern wisdom, which it is hoped will lead to increased prosperity throughout the rainforest.

Rainforest Reserve
A larger and older rainforest reserve than the one planned to be built elsewhere in the rainforest, this site's primary purpose is academic research. This reserve, funded and built by the Pax Group in roughly 2023-2024, hosts over 400 kinds of rare plants.

Some of the flora and fauna known to grow here are purple joy water lilies, blue morpho butterflies, and spider monkeys.

Culture
Cuisine
Tambyani's guidebooks prominently feature "adventurous" local dishes that are considered highly exotic outside the nation, such as roasted ants, stuffed cicada pupae, and grilled scorpions. Traditional dishes that appeal to a wider palate include black bean and orange rice, hearts of palm salad, and coconut shrimp with black beans.

Religion and Mysticism
The people of Tambyani worship the god Amma, who is said to have gifted Tambyani a golden diamond in ancient times. This diamond transformed the land, which was originally a desert, into a prosperous and fertile one. Indigenous people wear jewelry that look like diamonds to honor Amma and their other gods.

The traditional Tambyani way of making a wish is to tie a sturdy and blooming flower around one's wrist and wish upon it; this will see one's wish blessed by the Flower God.

The various tribes of the rainforest have unique totems so that the gods know which tribe's prayers are being buried in the earth during the annual Habira festival, in which the village gives thanks for the past year of the rainforest god's protection and buries wooden carvings to ask for another year. The Imana tribe in particular has a totem featuring a harpy eagle, which are revered for their strength and fidelity.

The conflict escalated until multiple other miners were injured, and Mark himself took the diamond and leapt into the river 10m below. While Mark survived with minor injuries and returned home to his son, the diamond was ultimately lost in the river.
