The Pluto is a high-class, invitation-only cruise ship owned by a member of the Svart nobility. With nearly twenty decks and many entertainment facilities, its main attraction is an auction house that operates aboard, which is the source of a rumor that people can get anything they want while aboard.[1]
The Pluto's auction house prizes itself on hosting "the rarest, most unusual, and most wanted items." This allows the Pluto to serve as a black market and causes its owners to keep a veil of secrecy over its operations, to the extent that external investigators cannot even ascertain that the ship is invitation only.[1] The auction is only held once the ship enters international waters, and if any issues arise, only officials from Svart have authority to handle matters.[2]
The Pluto has two classes of invitations. Regular invitations may be purchased by celebrities and the wealthy, and these guests stay in lower-class cabins, while gold-trimmed invitations are not for sale and are instead sent to nobles, political and business leaders, and those who are selling rare and valuable items at auction. Gold invitation holders are housed in staterooms and are the only passengers who may participate in the auction.[1]
The Pluto sails from its home port of Stellis City twice a year.[3] The ship typically leaves Stellis, spends seven days at sea sailing to other ports in the country to pick up passengers, then returns for one final boarding at Stellis before starting its main voyage into international waters.[2]
