In a flashback to his childhood, Lowe Lear recalls that after asking him whether he wanted to live in a better world, she seemed to become very busy. Her application for Lowe's household registration failed repeatedly; on a neighbor's advice, Laura would go on to seek out a guardian to apply on Lowe's behalf.
Aboard The Pluto, Vyn gathers the guests from the 18th floor and poses a few pointed questions that make Rio extremely nervous. When Vyn directly exposes Rio as the killer, Rio eventually admits to the crime in a crazed confession that ends with Rio attempting to join Lynne by slamming his head into a wall.
