Marius: Guys, there's no point in hiding your cards now.
Marius: Why don't you all spill your reason for coming here.
Marius: Vyn, why don't you explain what you were talking about just now?
Everyone turns their attention to Vyn.
After all, Vyn was the first person to ask for an invitation that day at headquarters.
You: Dr. Richter, did you know something before coming here?
Vyn: All right, I will explain. I came here to investigate someone.
Vyn looks at you. An apologetic expression surfaces upon his gentle countenance.
Vyn: Apologies. I concealed this information because it is related to a patient's private affairs. It would be improper to divulge such matters.
You: I see. It really is hard for you to reveal something like that.
Artem: We have no interest in your patient. Get to the point.
Vyn: My patient's circumstances now intersect with a criminal case, so I naturally have no more reason to withhold information.
Vyn: I am investigating one of the "Treasure Island" participants, Zachary Clarke.
Vyn: He is an expert in legal psychology who works with prisons on correctional psychiatry.
Vyn: Since he is frequently in contact with prisoners, Zachary requires periodic psychological assessments, which I conduct.
Vyn: He recently demonstrated a psychological aberration, so I investigated him.
Vyn: I discovered that he had petitioned for a prisoner's commutation several months ago, which was approved.
Vyn: The prisoner's offense is closely related to this island. When Zachary, a psychiatrist, suddenly signed up for this event...
Vyn: It is difficult for me to ignore such peculiarities, so I wanted to go to the island myself.
You: Dr. Richter, are you suspecting that the inmate bribed Zachary for the commutation?
Vyn: Yes.
Artem: Is this prisoner you mentioned Joshua Ott, the sole survivor from the Great Gold Heist?
Vyn: Correct.
The sole survivor? The bandit from the gang of robbers?
You: Mr. Wing, you have a great memory. You only read through some case files, yet you remember the criminal's name.
Artem is silent for a time, as if he wants to say something.
Artem: It's not that. I know the particulars of the case because...
Artem: Someone asked me to investigate a person who is closely related to this case.
You: So you're also coming because of an investigation?
Artem: Yes. When this case occurred, there was an innocent victim: Orson Barlow, a fisherman.
Artem: That day, he was fishing and happened to land on the island. He was killed because he saw the gang.
Artem: He left behind a sick wife and two young children. They're upset about Joshua's light sentence.
Artem: A friend of mine was in charge of the case back then, so he has been in contact with the Barlows.
Artem: He has been looking after Jack Barlow, Orson's son.
Artem: Jack has been acting strange ever since he learned that Joshua was released from prison.
Artem: My friend is worried that Jack wants to take revenge on Joshua.
You: I sympathize with how Jack feels, but if he really does something to Joshua, he'll be legally liable.
Artem: That's why my friend asked me to come after he heard that Jack signed up for the treasure hunt.
Artem: Because of his public position, it would be difficult for him to show up.
You: I see. So Jack's on board right now?
Artem: Yes. He came as a reporter.
Luke: To sum up our current situation, Vyn and Artem are investigating people related to the Great Gold Heist.
Luke: And Nosta, where Marius' event is being held, happens to be where the stolen gold was rumored to be hidden.
Luke: That's why everyone's coming to this island.
Luke: All of them could've tampered with the terminals. Zachary and Joshua have a common interest...
Luke: And Jack will likely use this treasure hunt to exact revenge on Joshua.
Marius: Vyn, Joshua just got out of prison. He probably doesn't have any savings.
Marius: He most likely bribed Zachary with the rumored gold on the island.
Vyn: Very likely so.
Luke: If that's the case, then Joshua didn't tell the police the whole truth back then.
Luke: The island very likely has gold, and Joshua knows where the rest of it is.
Artem: But if he really knows the gold's whereabouts, then he must be more than an ordinary bandit.
Artem: This case still has secrets left to solve.
Marius: We have people scheming for money and murder...
Marius: I should go consult a diviner before our next event. What's with all this bad juju...
You: (Marius, things have been turbulent ever since you took over Pax...)
Vyn: Zachary did not board the ship alone. An assistant accompanied him.
Vyn: I attempted to find an excuse to meet this assistant, but Zachary said they were not feeling well and had declined.
You: Deliberately avoiding others, a commutation petition...
You: Dr. Richter, are you suspecting that this assistant is Joshua in disguise?
You: This is all just conjecture, though. We don't have any evidence to confirm Joshua's identity...
Vyn: Marius, are you able to postpone the event for a few days? We need time to look into these three individuals.
Artem: The damaged terminals are a valid reason.
Marius: But don't you guys think that postponing the event will only alert them?
Luke: As things stand, we may as well lure them out.
Luke: Tomorrow, I'll come up with a way to verify the identity of Zachary's assistant.
Luke: If he really is Joshua Ott, then I'll keep a close eye on him.
At this point, you all have determined the next initial step to take in your investigation.
During the entire discussion, no one asked Luke why he was coming to the island.
He would've said something if it were necessary for you all to know...
