Vyn "Timeless Wishes"/Rewards

Story Summary

This story takes place in Year 3. Vyn is engaged to the MC.

The MC leaves work at night and is surprised to find Vyn waiting for her. Vyn, having noticed that many couples are out as the Winterwish Festival approaches, has made reservations for dinner. The restaurant's holiday event is impressive and reminds the MC how difficult she's finding it to pick out a present for Vyn -- she eventually decided to surprise him by making a blanket with arm knitting and is waiting for the yarn to arrive. Vyn asks about her plans, and she vaguely mentions that she wants to try out some crafts, trying to keep the surprise. However, she accidentally shipped the yarn to Vyn's home, and he's already looked in the box; he asks if they're going to make something together, and she pretends it had been her plan all along while fretting over having to pick out a new gift. Vyn asks if she wants to exchange gifts this year, saying it's a tradition he's never taken part in before.

The MC arrives at Vyn's home as he's preparing the arm knitting yarn. He asks what she plans to make, but she grows insecure over how he'll view her many mistakes and tries to misdirect him, claiming to have planned for present-sized stockings. Vyn finds a stocking knitting tutorial for them to follow together, and the MC volunteers to be his assistant since she wants to see him knit. He completes a row but becomes helplessly entangled in the yarn when changing colors. The MC untangles him, then the two decide to go to a knitting workshop.

At the workshop, the shop owner helps Vyn and the MC see that they aren't alone -- many couples have come in to learn to make gift stockings. Vyn picks up the techniques very quickly and is able to help the MC when she has trouble, although he gets very close to her while teaching, and she begins to have thoughts about him that she feels like she should have grown past by now. When they leave the workshop, they encounter a small parade throwing candy to the crowd. They exchange flavors, and as the MC explains the blessing intended by giving out the candy, she begins to feel nervous about his gift again.

Vyn and the MC return home and finish the gift stockings together. The MC wakes up in the dark of night and realizes Vyn isn't there with her; she searches his house and finds him in the attic making the blanket she'd originally planned on. The MC realizes that Vyn has known for a while that she ordered the yarn for a blanket; Vyn says he's making it because he knew she felt she had to change plans and didn't want her to regret not finishing the blanket. He asks her to go back to bed and let him finish it, but she insists on keeping him company while he does, which makes him agree to stop there for the night so that she'll sleep.

The next morning, the MC finds Vyn deep asleep on the balcony under the completed blanket. His hand is outside the blanket, and as she tucks it back in, she notices an invitation to an auction and wonders whether he'd planned to get her a gift all along. Resolved to finally arrange a good gift for him, she goes out shopping, then stops at a cafe to write down things that will make Vyn happy. He surprises her at the cafe and asks for her advice for a friend whose girlfriend thinks their relationship has grown boring. The MC responds that excitement in a relationship comes from experiencing things together. On the last day of the holiday, the two gather to exchange gifts. The MC gives Vyn a set of wishing cards, which includes a few blank cards for him to write some wishes of his own; she encourages him to put himself first when using them.

Vyn places the blanket on the MC while she opens his present. The stocking is difficult to untie, and both of them end up with their fingers tied together by red string. Vyn asks her to fulfill one of his wishes right then: to be this close to her forever. She agrees to never part from him, and he gifts her a necklace with a globe amaranth design, representing eternal love. He asks if she'll accept the gift, knowing its meaning, and she does so while stressing that she'll never change her mind.

You: Yeah! You know... you mix all the different ingredients together into a silicon-like thing that you can squeeze and play around with?

Vyn: That sounds interesting. We should do that next time.

DIY Model

You: I want to try DIY models!

Vyn: Models? Is it the same as the wooden models that you have to put together?

You: Yeah! You have to buy various materials yourself, decide on the scene and theme, and put it together.

You: It sounds a little like playing house... doesn't it?

Vyn: Playing house? I would love to try that.

Vyn: That type of craft most likely has no requirement for the venue. We should do it at home. It will be more convenient that way.

Vyn: Do you think it would be better at my place or yours?

Come to my place

You: Come to my place!

You: I recently tried making a new kind of dessert and want you to try it.

Vyn: Okay. I cannot wait...

Vyn: Your handmade dessert will definitely be amazing.

You: Then... let's go to your place.

Vyn: I have not left the garage yet. It will not take long for me to go back.

Vyn: What do you need? I can go get it.
