Summertime Coffee: New Product Development

After a group of customers leaves, Luke starts to mysteriously take stock.

You: Luke? Why are you taking stock before we've finished for the day?

Luke: I'm not — I actually wanted to develop something new while we have some free time, so I'm double-checking if we have enough ingredients for what I want to do.

You: Something new? Isn't your summer sparkling coffee already selling like hotcakes?

Luke stops moving when he hears your question, then casually leans against the counter.

Luke: One has to always plan ahead in the service industry.

Luke: Sure, summer sparkling coffee is selling well right now, but there's no guarantee that it will continue to sell well in the future.

You: Would interest really fade that quickly?

Luke: Well... not completely. Sometimes, there could be other circumstances.

Luke: For example, the children at the beach can't drink coffee, but the other regular beverages we have are too ordinary...

Luke: So I want to develop something that children might like — bonus points if it looks pretty too!

You: If you really do manage to develop something like that, make sure you let me taste it first.

Luke: Sure thing.

Luke: You'll always be the number one in my heart. So, naturally, you'll be the first to try anything good.

Luke: But you've gotta give me good feedback as payment so I can make improvements.

Seeing how spirited Luke is, you can't help but feel excited too. You sit up and stick out your pinky.

You: Okay. Let's have a pinky promise.

Luke reaches out and hooks his pinky in yours with determination.

Luke: Okay. It's a promise!

Festive Grilled Fish: Etiquette

His orders keep pouring in, maybe because Artem's such an amazing cook. He's so busy that he doesn't even notice that his tie is crooked.

You: Mr. Wing, your tie is crooked.

Artem instinctively looks down at his clothes, then turns around to adjust it.

He finally turns around after a long while and looks at you with uncertainty.

Artem: It still looks a bit crooked... I'll go fix it in the bathroom.

You quickly stop Artem when he moves toward the bathroom.

You: I just saw customers go in. I can fix it for you if you don't mind.

Artem: Huh?

Artem: If it's not too much trouble...

You: Of course it's not. Could you lean down toward me a bit?

Artem leans down towards you a little moe, and a sharp scent of cedar wood rushes towards you.

You gently adjust the tie for him.

You: Done.

Artem: Thank you.

You: Sure. I've got some other stuff to take care of.

Artem: Hold on — we were so busy earlier today. I don't think you really ate much of lunch.

Artem: We don't have a lot of orders right now, so I can make something light for you if your lunch wasn't enough.

You: Is that preferential treatment, Mr. Wing?

Artem: Yup. Only towards you.

You: Okay, then thanks in advance!

Ocean Breeze Mousse Jello: Seaside Flavor

Vyn is currently deep in thought as he stands next to the window facing the sea, looking at a vibrantly colored dessert.

Perhaps sensing your gaze, he looks up just in time to see you peeking over at him.

Vyn: You are right on time, [Player]. Can you please help me with something?

You: Sure. How can I help?

Vyn: Help me taste this dessert, would you?

Vyn pushes the dessert toward you as he speaks.

You: Don't mind if I do.

You take a spoonful and put it in your mouth. It tastes very smooth, as if it's a marshmallow melting bit by bit in your mouth...

The sweet, light flavor spreads out over your tongue, creating a layered taste.

Vyn: How is it?

You: It's super tasty.

Vyn: You do not think it is missing a special seaside quality?

You: Well... now that you mention it... It's an excellent dessert, but it does lack the uniqueness of a seaside dessert.

Vyn: Right. And that is what I am stuck on.

You: Then, do you want to add something unique to the sea into this dessert, Dr. Richter? What about sea salt?

Vyn: Sea salt? That is not a bad idea.

Vyn: I will give it a try. May I bother you with another taste test later?

You: Sure.

Summer Fun Shaved Ice: Watermelon Shaved Ice

*Thwack—*

Marius splits the watermelon in one swing. The sweet scent instantly fills your nostrils as he grabs a small piece and offers it to you.

Marius: Here. Is it sweet?

You take a small bite. The sweetness of the watermelon instantly hits your taste buds.

You: It's really sweet!

Marius: Of course. I picked it out myself, after all.

Marius only cuts one piece of the watermelon for you, but he doesn't eat any himself. He simply cuts the rind off and plates the rest.

You: You're not gonna eat them?

Marius: Nope. I'm fine as long as I have your approval that it's sweet.

Marius: I'm thinking about what kind of new dishes I can invent with the leftovers.

You look at the watermelon, ice, and decorative raisins and start thinking...

You: Watermelon, ice, raisins... Ah! I got it. We can make rolled watermelon ice cream!

Marius: Rolled watermelon ice cream?

You: Yeah! It's ice-cold, sweet, and refreshing since it's full of moisture. The color would look great too. It'd be really popular.

Marius: That's a super detailed coming from you — do you just want to eat it yourself? Hmm?

You: Isn't it normal to want tasty food?

Marius: True. Okay, I'll go with that. Would you like to be the first one to taste my rolled watermelon ice cream?

You: Of course I would!

Marius: Okay. I won't let you down.
