The steam rises from the tea, tracing the outline of the night in the air and dispersing silently.

Leaning on Vyn, you casually scroll your phone, and the only sound in the room is Vyn gently turning the pages of a book.

You: (Hmm... what's this?)

With Vyn's birthday just around the corner, you scour the Internet for any ideas.

Bombarded with information, a brief post catches your eye.

You: (A couple's mini-game...)

You: ("Perfect for couples who have recently taken their relationship to the next level...")

Curious, you tap on the link, and music starts playing.

You: !!!

Vyn: Hmm? What is it?

Attracted by the sudden noise, Vyn puts down his book and looks at you.

You: Ahh... it's...

You subconsciously try to hide your phone.

Vyn: ...

Vyn: What are you looking at? Are you feeling... guilty?

You: No, I just saw a couple's mini-game...

Vyn moves closer and looks at the phone in your hand.

Vyn: We can take a look if you are interested.

He taps on the link, and the familiar music plays once more, while an animation introduces the rules of the game.

The rules of the game are simple. Pick a random starting location and head towards the endpoint through the intertwined lines.

Each endpoint will present a set of instructions that the couple must follow.

As the animation comes to an end, two words show up on the screen—"Love Ladder."

You: I guess it's a ladder-climbing game?

Vyn: Yes, the name is fitting.

You: One, two, three... there are six choices in total. The rules say you can only open one set of instructions per day, so the game goes on for six days?

Vyn: Look here. It says... there is also an Easter Egg on the third day.

Vyn: It is an incentive to keep playing.

You: That's an interesting strategy to encourage players.

Vyn: It takes time to improve relationships. You must take it one step at a time, as it will not happen overnight.

Vyn: Except... I am skeptical about how much a relationship can change in seven days.

Vyn smiles, looking somewhat interested.

You can't help but recall the comments below the post.

"Strongly recommended!!"

"I'm heartbroken for the young couples who haven't played this mini-game!"

"Perfect for couples who have recently entered a new phase in their relationship..."

"Be sure to experience it for yourself! Highly recommend!"

You: (Vyn and I just got engaged... Maybe we should try playing it?)

You: (Vyn also seems interested...)

Vyn: Shall we give it a try?

Vyn smiles at you, a sweet tenderness rising in his golden eyes that sweeps away your hesitation.

You: Okay!

You: Then, let's start...

With pen and paper ready, the two of you follow the video instructions on the website to draw your own grid.

With the cells drawn, an unknown pattern is drawn at every endpoint.

When it's time to play, select a random symbol and search the website based on it to get the corresponding task instructions.

You: Is this the jumbled code for the Easter Egg task you mentioned?

Vyn: Yes... on the third day, we do not need to move any cells. Instead, we input this code into a specific redemption box...

Vyn: And the corresponding task instructions will be triggered directly.

You: I'm loving the variety. No wonder the game's been so popular.

The grid pattern isn't complicated, and you and Vyn completed it quickly. Looking at the cells, you are excited to choose one.

You: Today's the first day. Which one should we choose...?

Vyn: How about... we leave the game for later?

You: Huh—

You: !!!

Before you can finish, Vyn picks you up around the waist.

Your phone slips and falls onto the sofa with a light thud.

Realizing you've been lifted off the ground, you subconsciously put your arms around his neck.

Vyn: It is getting late...

He is smiling, but there is something dangerous in his smirk.

Vyn: You should be in bed.

He lowers his head to your neck, close enough to kiss your earlobe.

You: ...

The night is dim and remote as your affection lingers.
