It is just as Vyn had predicted. Zachary arrives not long after the two of you had reached the forest campsite.

Zachary Clarke: Dr. Richter, what a coincidence! We meet again.

Zachary Clarke: After our conversation on the ship, I thought we weren't to meet until after we returned to Stellis.

Vyn: You sound as if you are displeased to see me.

Zachary Clarke: It's a bit jarring to see your own psychiatrist when on vacation.

Zachary Clarke: But I suppose our meeting was fated. Shall we exchange our treasure hunt clues?

Zachary puts on the act of opening his backpack, as if he's planning to take out the tools he has collected thus far in the event.

Vyn: It is certainly unexpected that you are being so serious about this game, Dr. Clarke.

Vyn: If that is so, then why are you not traveling with your assistant? He may be of assistance.

Zachary Clarke: I'm his boss. I brought him here on vacation as a perk. If I had to be stuck with him for the entire trip...

Zachary Clarke: That would only be torture for him.

Zachary Clarke: Besides, according to the organizer, any discoveries belong to the initial finder.

Zachary Clarke: If he did find something while I'm with him, then he'd have to share with me. That wouldn't be appropriate.

Vyn: Zachary, I am your psychiatrist. Acting generous and considerate in front of me is unnecessary, is it not?

Zachary Clarke: Dr. Richter, what are you trying to say?

Vyn: Do you not remember your nickname among the inmates, King Crook?

Zachary Clarke: Vyn, you!

You: "King Crook"? What do you mean?

Vyn: Dr. Clarke often frequents the prison and smuggles contraband for the inmates, such as cigarettes.

Vyn: He charges a premium which is usually two to three times the original value, so they dubbed him King Crook.

Vyn mercilessly exposes Zachary's background in front of the man himself.

Judging from this interaction, Vyn never planned to play nice with Zachary from the very beginning.

Zachary Clarke: Dr. Richter, wasn't that disclosure of personal information? What poor professional ethics you have.

Vyn: You are now a criminal, not my patient.

Vyn: Moreover, are you in a position to debate professional ethics with me?

Vyn: Tell me about your assistant, Jason Doe, better known as Joshua Ott. Where did he go?

Zachary Clarke: What Joshua Ott...? I don’t know him.

You: It hasn't been very long since you helped him with his commutation. Have you forgotten him already?

Zachary's panic is blatantly obvious now that Joshua's identity has been exposed.

Vyn: The grounds for Joshua's commutation were his essential contributions to your thesis published in Nation A.

Vyn: If you can even forget someone like him, then I should refer you to a neurologist.

Zachary Clarke: I really can't hide anything from you, Dr. Richter.

Zachary Clarke: I heard people say that you're a genius psychiatrist, but I didn't think you were also an ace investigator.

Zachary Clarke: Be it the commutation or bringing him here to Nosta, I was actually threatened to comply.

You: Threatened?

You: Let's talk about it, then. How did he threaten you?

Coercion

You: How did Joshua get you to help him reduce his sentence?

Zachary Clarke: He had the proof of me helping prisoners smuggle in contrabands.

Zachary Clarke: He had a ledger of the "transactions."

Zachary Clarke: It contained a list of the items I smuggled in, how much they cost, and the timestamps.

Zachary Clarke: He threatened to turn it over to the guards if I didn't help him reduce his sentence.

Vyn: You are not a newbie to smuggling, and you want me to believe that a single ledger could threaten you? Surely you must be joking.

Zachary Clarke: It contained disclosures and signatures of the inmates involved. I don't know how he got them...

Zachary Clarke: But if he did report me, not only would my reputation be ruined, but I'd also have to face a lawsuit.

Joshua's goal on Nosta

You: What did Joshua want on the island? Why would he sneak into the treasure hunt event?

Zachary Clarke: Since you know Joshua, you must have heard about the Great Gold Heist from 10 years ago.

Zachary Clarke: Joshua is here for the rest of the gold.

You: Joshua was given a lighter sentence because he confessed the whereabouts of the gold.

You: If he concealed the whereabouts of the gold, then you could have blackmailed him as leverage anytime.

You: Why did you help him board the island? And, you were the one who damaged terminals on the cruise, right?

Zachary Clarke: Yes, it was me. I...

Vyn: Are you ashamed to say it? Then let me say it for you.

Vyn: Joshua Ott promised to share the gold with you, am I right?

Vyn: As an eager opportunist who already takes risks smuggling in cigarettes for prisoners, how could you possibly resist the temptation of gold?

Zachary Clarke: You are right. That was done in a moment of greed. But, I didn't destroy the terminals alone.

You: Joshua was with you?

Zachary Clarke: It wasn't just him. After destroying the terminals, we went to the monitoring room to replace the footage, but...

Zachary Clarke: It turned out that the footage of us entering the warehouse had already been replaced.

Zachary Clarke: Someone was helping us cover the thing up, but we didn't know who that person was.

You: There was a third person?

Someone who could replace the footage in the monitoring room without getting noticed. Who could that be?

Vyn: You all have no idea who the third person is? Haha. This is interesting.

Division of labor

Vyn: Since you and Joshua Ott are both here for the gold, then why are you not working together?

Zachary Clarke: We were supposed to. But, Joshua had an issue, so he had to go settle it first.

You: What was it?

Zachary Clarke: PTSD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Zachary Clarke: Something nasty happened in the gang. Everyone died, except Joshua.

Zachary Clarke: He witnessed one too many deaths, so he developed a serious psychological disorder.

Zachary Clarke: He had insomnia for years and reoccurring nightmares about the tragedy on the island.

Zachary Clarke: He said on the cruise that when he boarded the island, he would first go pay respects to several of his old buddies.

Vyn: He went to pay his respects to the dead. That still leaves you. Where are you headed?

Zachary Clarke: Joshua Ott gave me a clue about where the gold was buried and told me to go find it first.

You: A clue? Did Joshua not know where exactly the gold was either?

Otherwise, why wouldn't Joshua just tell him the location of the buried gold?

Zachary Clarke: According to Joshua, the biggest share of the gold was hidden by the gang's second in command.

Zachary Clarke: That person was a total bookworm. After hiding the gold, they wrote a poem with clues of the burial location.

Zachary Clarke: No one could find the gold except him, and of course, those who could figure out the hidden secret in the poem.

Deal with Joshua

You: You just said that you agreed to take Joshua to the island in a moment of greed.

You: But did you ever think about how he might just kill you after finding the gold?

You: Are you sure that you will still be alive to enjoy and savor the wealth you gained?

Zachary Clarke: Well, I was certainly on guard.

Zachary Clarke: Joshua said that the gold on the island weighed over 100 kilos. There is no way he can move it alone.

Zachary Clarke: His old fellows were all dead, and he had no one else. There was no way he could transport all the gold alone.

Zachary Clarke: So, I got a fishing boat to pick us up on the other side of the island. Everyone on the boat has been bought over and paid for by me.

Zachary Clarke: I'll be safe once I get on the boat and I won't need to worry about him tying up loose ends.

Vyn: Really? How clever.

Vyn: That boat is full of your men, so you don't have anything to fear. However, can the same be said for Joshua Ott?

Vyn: You have the gold and the numbers on your side. So why is he not afraid of you killing him?

Zachary Clarke: Of course he wouldn't be. He told me...

Zachary Clarke: If he didn't get back to Stellis alive and with the gold, an email full of dirt on me would be sent to the Police.

Zachary Clarke: Besides, I just want to get rich. I don't have the guts to take a life.

Zachary Clarke: Also, he had no other choice. I was the only one he could turn to.

Records of coming to the island

Vyn: Zachary Clarke, one last question for you. Is this your first time on Nosta?

Zachary Clarke: I...

Zachary lowers his head, hesitates for a moment, and lets out a long sigh.

Zachary Clarke: Vyn, you must have found my immigration record.

Zachary Clarke: You've really caught me off guard.

Vyn: Excellent. You can drop the act now that we see eye to eye. Be honest. There is no point in hiding the truth.

Zachary Clarke: I came here once before to cut a deal with the boat crew.

Zachary Clarke: This island was deserted before Pax bought it, so we needed to map out a path in advance.

Vyn: Really...?

Zachary Clarke: I've told you everything, Dr. Richter. We're neither in competition nor conflict, so let me go.

Vyn: I can let you go under one condition.

Zachary Clarke: What condition?

Vyn: Give me the clues to the gold.
