Lawrence Myers is the owner of Lester Auction House and is Van Kerrel's best friend and business partner, having been classmates since university and worked together for 30 years. He has two grown children, both of whom are art students.[2]
Lawrence is the prime suspect in Van Kerrel's death, allegedly assisting Van in his suicide.[3]
Story[edit | edit source]
Lawrence admitted to being the sole culprit in the item-swapping scandal that brought down his business due to distaste for "new money dilettantes" who buy art solely for status rather than appreciation. With the money generated by his counterfeit scheme, Lawrence set up an anonymous fund to help disadvantaged art students. Lester's competitors used the scandal to discredit Van, who was the driving force behind Lester's success.[2] Lawrence was acquitted of involvement in Van's death and said he had no plans to fight any fraud charges levied against him after the criminal trial.[4]
