Cher Young is an art broker involved in the recent forgeries of paintings attributed to the anonymous artist "Z" which were actually painted by Jason Sanders. She sold "Trumpet Boy" in 2029 to a collector who would later go on to report the forgery to the police,[2] "After the Rain" to Hanson Collins for display at a Pax Group art exhibition in 2030, and "The Maiden and Her Cat" to Marius von Hagen while he was investigating the painter of the previous work.[3]
Cher is a gambling addict, and her fraud operation is backed by an anonymous "M" who hired a defense attorney for her case. She agreed to pretend to be Jason's mistress in exchange for money to cover her gambling losses and paid Jason extra to take the largest portion of the blame in the fraud case.[4]
Cher went on to serve a minimal sentence for her crimes as a result of the attorney hired for her by M; it was also speculated that she'd receive a large payment upon release as a reward for not discussing M during the case.[5]
