You: "Observe an astronomical phenomenon with your partner!"

The game interface shows the interactive task you've been given this time.

You: Let me check if there will be any astronomical phenomena recently... Huh? There aren't really any over the next few days...

As you worry about this obstacle, Artem comes up with a different idea.

Artem: I think we can change our approach.

You: You mean...

Artem: This game may have an aim other than increasing the understanding between partners and having a fun time together.

Artem: But, at the very least, it's not meant to present a great obstacle to the players.

You: Hmm... That makes sense.

Artem: So I think we can broaden the scope of this task.

Artem: For example, maybe we can simply admire the night sky during times when we can't meet the conditions.

Artem: Tonight happens to be cloudless. Even though watching the ordinary sky isn't a special astronomical phenomenon, it should do the trick.

Artem analyzes the situation in a light-hearted manner.

You: "Do the trick"... Hahaha.

You: Artem... how does that saying go again? "I didn't expect you to be that type of person."

As you discuss this, you look at each other and smile. Your previous anxiety due to the game's task is immediately alleviated.

You: I knew it! Our great attorney, Mr. Wing, is really amazing. You saw through the essence of this simple game.

You tilt your head and wink as you tease him. Artem lets out a snort of laughter and takes your hand.

Artem: Let's go. We'll go outside to see the stars.

The vast night sky stretches out like a dark curtain, and the dancing stars twinkle as though they're ready to fly away anytime.

You and Artem sit together on a bench next to the pool to look up at the sky, with the occasional night breeze wafting by.

You: The stars are so beautiful. It's all thanks to your quick thinking that I get to see them.

Artem: Actually, I also had another idea in mind just now...

You: What is it?

Artem: I thought about taking you to see the sunrise, but it's a meteorological phenomenon, so it's barely good enough to "do the trick"...

Artem: Besides, we both have very packed work days coming up. Getting up early to see the sunrise and going to the office after would be really tiring...

You: So that's what you were thinking about...

You: That's completely fine with me. Didn't you say it yourself just now?

You: At the end of the day, it doesn't matter whether or not we get full marks for the task. It's the process that matters.

Artem: Then what do you feel about the current process?

You: I feel relaxed, happy, delighted...

As you're enthusiastically describing how you feel, you suddenly catch a flash of something bright in your peripheral vision.

You: Ah — a shooting star!!! Look, Artem!

Artem: ...

Artem turns and looks as he hears this.

The night sky is briefly ignited by the shooting star that happened to pass by, like a silver flame, lit in celebration of this rare encounter.

Several seconds after the shooting star's appearance, you and Artem are still in a state of shock.

You: Artem, aren't we... really lucky!?

You: Seriously! We were just planning to "half-heartedly" complete the task, but we happened to run into the real deal!

Artem: I... didn't think this situation would be possible at all.

Artem's expression is full of barely restrained delight. He then fixes his gaze on you as if he suddenly remembered something.

Artem: However, now that I think about it, I've encountered this kind of "luck" before.

You: Huh? You've encountered it before... When was that?

Artem: I've always thought that I lucked out when I met you.

You: ...

Artem: I met you, just like how that shooting star met us.

Artem: Everything seems like a coincidence, but who is to say that it wasn't predestined by fate?

Artem: Otherwise, it'd be too much of a coincidence, wouldn't it? It's not like we're characters in a book.

You: Your reasoning is valid... I don't even know how to refute you...

Artem smiles softly and approaches you. Before you can react, you feel a gentle touch on your forehead. A touch that feels like you're being treasured.

Artem: Then you might as well admit it's true.

Artem: The shooting star won't stop for anyone, but I will — I will only stop for you.

You: Okay, then I'll just admit that you really are lucky.

You: Actually, now that I think about it, I never thought that I'd like someone so much either...

You: *Sigh*... Looks like I have to devote my whole life to someone... No, that won't do, but I can at least devote this night to them.

The atmosphere is getting too intimate and your face feels like it's burning up, so you can't help but crack a joke to lighten up the mood.

However, as soon as you say that, Artem's eyes take on a mysterious look. He reaches out and traps you close to him.

Artem: Devoted only for tonight? Are you sure about that?

Artem: Then... where are you planning to run off to tomorrow?

Artem's breath is so close that it somehow feels almost scorching. You can't help shuddering, but he has you wrapped in a tight embrace.

Suddenly, you realize that you don't dislike this sudden intensity from him at all. He hugs you firmly but gently and does not hurt you.

Artem: I won't let go, you know.

Artem's soft laughter sounds in your ear again. It seems like he has returned to how he usually acts, but you don't want things to end like this.

You immediately reach out for his retreating arm and hug him close. You: Then don't even think about making me let you go either.

You: This is payback for you teasing me. I say you deserve to sleep here on your own tonight— Mmph!

A warm presence instantly envelops you, not giving you any time to regret your impulsive actions of teasing him.

You only feel the burning kiss growing ever hotter, and another shooting star seems to grace the edge of the sky.
